If they can be used appropriately (i.e. in specific, high-crime areas) and only to supplement (not override) the police...then yes, bring them in.
This is simply rediculous, I had no idea crime was that bad!
What of the gun-toting gangsters hanging hanging around outside of their homes right now?[QUOTE="chrisrooR"][QUOTE="Desulated"]
I don't think people in Chicago would be happy seeing soldiers with automatic weapons marching outside their homes...

Well then it makes it 10 times worse, now the gangs themselves will get even more reinforcements. XD
If I was a gang leader, I'd want to keep things on the down low untill the national guard left. Armed soldiers patrolling the streets would probably be bad for buisness, and your average non-utterly insane gang is not going to try and go to war with the military. Most would want to calm things down untill the guard left, not try and fight them off.

Well, it depends on the gang's firepower. I mean, the gangs in Mexico have the power to match with their military.
Yeah, because there is definitely no crime in Rio. :|[QUOTE="spazzx625"][QUOTE="Elephant_Couple"]
And they were bidding for the olympics...ROFL.
Elephant_Couple
I fail to see what Rio having crime and still getting the olympics has to do with the fact that A) Chicago ia an utter **** hole and B) there was some demographic out there that though Chicago was actually a good place to have the olympics. Oh that's right, it's completely irrelevant.
Chicago bidding for the olympics...ROFL
I think the point flew way, way over your head. You realize that Rio, the city that won the Olympics for the year Chicago was bidding, actually has a worse crime/murder rate than Chicago right?
No, it's definitely a problem...The main problem is gang-related...Which also ties into the drug trade, but it's mostly just stupidity.Sucks for Chicago. Lots of the US is starting to go to hell because of easier drug trafficking (spelling?) up from Mexico. Its especially terrible in New Mexico. Doesn't really affect Chicago much I guess, but still a big problem.

Gnags in the U.S. do not have the firepower or money like the ones in Mexico who run wild. Street gangs are mainly about making money on drugs. Gang banging is stupid but the individual gang leader who call out the shoots are smart they are not going to go wild while a bunch of armed soldiers are there its just bad for business.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that most of those 113 murders would have been gangsters killing other gangsters, right? I say just let them have it out or even encourage it sinceit's one of the few problems in this world that by it's nature will fix itself (can't have anymore gang wars if all the gang members are already dead).
Most, maybe. A lot of them are gang-related, but not necessarily gang on gang. Just last week a 20 month old girl was shot in the head (and later died) because the gunman was trying to shoot her dad. Stories like that really make people want change.Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that most of those 113 murders would have been gangsters killing other gangsters, right? Street gangs in the US don't have the firepower to match the US military. Not to mention the US Military is, you know, slightly greater than Mexicos military.
No street gang is going to try and go to war with the US. They'd be wiped out pretty hard.
