Chihuahua tasered and shoot down by police. "No option";.

What a wonderful story. Reminds of a recent article in my local paper about two cops who shot an unarmed twelve year old boy twice in the back as he ran away from them after stealing a cell phone. Also reminds me of when I was pulled over after going 4 miles over the speed limit at night, and the lovely police officer insisted that he search my car, and after I asked him why, he said that it would be "better" to just cooperate. A dog that size (you could measure its height with a bloody ruler :|) took three 9mm rounds to kill?

Wow, must have been one hell of a Chihuahua. Either that or the bullets literally passed right through the animal's body and caused minimal damage.

Some questions I have:

1. Why were the officers cornering the dog? I mean, what could have possibly prompted them to do that? Did the dog have outstanding warrants?

2. Instead of tasering and shooting a chihuahua three times why didn't they just, ya know, punt it. The average chihuahua is no heavier than a man's foot and is about the size of a football. One good kick is all it takes to put 25 feet between you and the dog.

I get the feeling the encounter went like this:

"Hey Jimbo, see that chihuahua?"
"Yeah. Oh no Ted it's coming right for us!"
"It's coming right for us!"

This is a sad story, for both the dog and cops. I suppose since they are cops they are given more of an excuse to shoot a small dog three time and taser it.:roll:

If a family can't control their pet, they don't deserve to own it. The fact of the matter is that this dog attacked a police officer. I don't think this was an over-reaction at all.

i kinda understand WHY they had to taser it, but SHOOT IT?! come on, thats a cheap shot against something small. i mean, they couldve just scared it away.

There is no excuse for shooting a CHIHUAHUA. I mean if someone's viscious pitbull or something got out, then sure I'd understand, they can do major damage. But a Chihuahua is likely only to scratch you. You could easily just grab it to stop it biting you, or a good smack would send it scampering away. Those cops should be either heavily fined or kicked off the force.

This dog didn't bite them because it was scared, it totally flipped out at them. It bit the dude 26 times, despite being kicked and tasered. Even the most scared of dogs don't do that.

The more terrified the animal the more desperate and dangerous it can be. An animal is most dangerous when it feels it's life is in jeopardy.

The simple fact that two cops couldn't wrangle a chiuaua is pathetic.....

How the hell do you recognize whats left a dog that small after you've shot it THREE TIMES and electrocuted it.

Whatever remains were left would hardly be recognizeable. Even if it was a small calibur gun, the exit wound of even weaker guns would be enough to practically rip a dog that small in half(Exaggeration to an extent of course, but the remains WOULD be mutilated).

That's stupid, my foot is bigger than a chihuahua. If they can't handle a dog that weighs a couple pounds, what are they going to do when they have their hands full with a 200 pound man.

Actually, chihuahuas are vicious animals by nature and extremely easy to provoke. I'm surprised that this family got this breed of dog for their child, seeing as chihuahuas are not recommended as pets for young families as they have a tendency to attack children...

Yes but most things that happen to be small and dangerous can't be shot or tasered. They had the option of whether to be real, and handle the situation correctly. Or do the wrong, incredibly stupid thing.
