[QUOTE="deeliman"][QUOTE="Hiddai"][QUOTE="deeliman"] There were 2 economic crashes in the history of teh us and they weren't attacked in either of them...

Who said anything about attack?! i said cold-war...jesus...

they also didn't have cold wars in them... dumbass.

When China will overpower the US, the US will naturally try to resist the growth of China as it will grow on their behalf. Have ever learned Geo-Politics?! i guess not...so don't try sound too smart and start doing homeworks in that elementary school you probably going to...

[QUOTE="JustBeYourself"][QUOTE="deeliman"] China is already a superpower dude.

No, it absolutely is not. 4 times the population of the US with half the total GDP. This does not make it a superpower. It's military is still nowhere near the USA's, it has serious pollution and social problems as well as education problems, corruption problems and brain drain problems. Unfortunately I think China's economy is going to stagnate just like Japan's did in the 90s but at a much lower GDP per capita.

Their GDP PPP (a far better measure of actual economic output) is about 12 trillion or more than three quarters of the U.S and "serious pollution and social problems" also afflicted Britain and the U.S.A. in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, that didn't stop Britain from dominating the 19th century or the U.S.A. from dominating the 20th. There is no reason to think that China will "stagnate" like Japan at a "much lower level GDP per capita", or that even if China hits a Lost Decade it will turn into a Lost Century. While China is definitely nowhere near as powerful as the U.S.A. today in pretty much any aspect of national power, the idea that the U.S. can maintain its dominance over the 21st century against vastly larger countries that are closing the technological gap is fantastical at best.

It's all very impressive growth but it's widely unsustainable. Every boom eventually ends with a crash.

LOL @ the sky in the second picture. It clearly looks like it's had some editing work done on it. Also, a "cupple" of pictures? XD

Funny, I just read that their growth is stagnating and the jobs picture looks bleak.

jimkabrhel

It is, because workers are getting paid more, which removes the benefit of other countries outsourcing work to china.

The progress of China is impressive when compared to most normal nations but if you compare it to its glorious neighbour it no longer seems very impressive at all. North Korea is the true Asian tiger of the 21st century!

North Korea has advanced super computer

o-NORTH-KOREA-COMPUTER-PHOTO-570.jpg?6

Precision marching women and perhaps the most mighty army the world has ever seen

military-marching.jpg

And last but not least. The greatest baskball player who ever lived and the only reason Michael Jordan ever won any games. Dennis Rodman!

Jordan-Rodmanpg-vertical.jpg

China is a good nation with a good leader but it's not a glorious nation with a glorious leader. Sorry China but I'm afraid you are number 2 and will have to take a back seat to the true emerging superpower in Asia this century.

Yeah. They grow so fast that they have extra back up cities to move into.

That's why factories are now increasingly relocating to other third-world countries in South & Southeast Asia.

It's US greatest danger IMOHiddai

Not really...

IMO the biggest threats to world peace are Pakistan, North Korea and Iran. China is our trading partner and China is all about business, why would they want war with us? If anything, Russia should be more worried about China than the USA.

you forgot to mention that both pictures were shot during the daytime and the pic of china today is one smothered with so much pollution that it blocks out the sun.

How do you know they were both shot during the daytime?

it was a joke. china has so much pollution that it, on some days, literally blocks out the sun. http://www.smh.com.au/world/toxic-air-blocks-out-the-sun-in-beijing-20130113-2cn72.html absolutely horrible...

I dunno if a city that has to use trucks to remove their crap and still has the laws of religious zealots can really laugh at much of anyone.

Dubai's oil reserves may be diminishing, but the UAE as a whole still has plenty.

True, it doesn't make sense comparing a nation with more than a billion people to a city with just two million people. But sure, I'd say the skyline for emerging Asian cities like Dubai and Beijing will only rise higher in the coming years and decades.

China has quite a few problems they need to address, indeed. They're going to need to balance their need for continued growth with their need for clean air, water, and other basic resources.

Their water supply is dangerously low.

Most developed nations today went through a very similar industrialization process to what China is going through today. Why the surprise?
