I tried google chrome when it first came out and hated it...

Just tried it again. Holey crap it's fast!!! Especially on GS. Sorry Firefox, we're done. And IE I hope you burn in hell already.

It's faster than Firefox because you likely use add-ons with Firefox....:? I'd much rather have AdBlock and have a slightly lower performance.

I use Chrome because it is faster, the homepage is convenient because it shows the 8 websites you visit the most frequently, and I don't need a bunch of add-ons.

You're probably confusing pop-ups with ads. And Chrome is good unless you haven't used FF with plenty of extensions before or used another browser.

Urgh no, I swapped to Chrome cause FF was running really slow and chuggy WITHOUT add-ons. Now Chrome barely works, half the time it won't load web pages - keeps saying resolving host which is computer lingo for "I'm not gonna work and there's not a damn thing you can do about it. You may as well go for a ciggy and come back in 10 at which point I'll decide what I want to do whilst you hold your head in your hands and debate jumping/throwing me out the window"

No thanks. It still doesn't have the infrastructure to enable something as important as NoScript so untill they get their act together I'm still going to stick with Firefox.

It's superb. It's a superior version of FF, and it is faster than Chrome. It also gets daily updates. Can't get any better than that :)

I've been using it for most of this year, it's definitely fast. Firefox is pretty good but not as fast as Google Chrome. IE is just all around crappy. then you have Safari which is just okay.

Try mozilla minefield

If using windows, click the one that ends with ".....win32.installer.exe"

Firefox is open source. There is the problem of the license of the Firefox logo and name, but the browser code itself is open source. And Chrome is based upon the open source Chormium project. And Webkit is open sourced and was originally built upon the KHTML platform.

I tried it recently. Don't see the hype. It's not that much faster than FF and there are no addons. The interface is also annoying.

I use Chrome and I love it. Earlier in the year at a hackers convention it was discovered that of all the internet browsers, Chrome was the only one that could not be hacked. It was also the fastest. That's reason enough for me to use it. Also, I don't ever get any popups with Chrome.

OFB: Do you see the use of Free Software such as Firefox on Windows as a good step, or does it diminish the value of a totally Free system? RMS: I had better correct a common confusion. The Firefox binaries distributed by the Mozilla developers, like all their binaries, are not free. To use Firefox as free software, you have to build it yourself from the source code. We're talking with the Mozilla project about cooperating to change this, but in the mean time, we're looking for people who would like to build and release free binaries that we can recommend. http://www.ofb.biz/safari/article/353.html this is why gnusense ships with epiphany :)

This. I'm willing to settle with a slightly slower browser in exchange for much stronger security. My webpages load up fast enough for me already anyway, so I don't see any need to make it any faster since I doubt I'd notice the improvement. I would, however, notice the lack of adblock plus, WOT, TACO, and noscript.

Minefield (Firefox 3.7 alpha) is faster than Chrome. Latest Chromium builds (the open source browser Chrome is based on) are MUCH faster than both Minefield and Chrome.
