I've been thinking about color lately and I've been wondering if people perceive color differently. Like for example the color red. My perception of the color red could be the exact opposite of another persons. What I see as the color red could be another persons blue. Am I crazy or do you guys think this could happen?

There has been a topic like this before and I wonder the exact same thing, it's entierly possible but completely untestable.

That thought has passed through my mind a few times. It's untestable though so there's no way we'd know.

Maybe if we attach someone else's eyes to your brain.

Ugh. Perceived color is determined by the wavelength of reflected light that hits the retina. The only people that see color differently than anyone else are those who are colorblind. They have tests for this.

The fact that everyone describes the way that colours clash pretty much the same pretty much proves this as false.

yeah some people think red is orange. I always wonder how something would look from another persons perspective.

While it wouldn't be THAT drastic, everyone does see everything a little differently. It's a human trait called perspective, and its what makes every human unique :P ... Until cloning comes around....

exactly.

Its one of those things that is always the same, unless the person is color blind, or just has bad eyes.

No, everyone sees the same color (or colour for the Brits here), unless you have a mutation like color blindness.

Well no not necessarily, the external cause of qualia might be consistant while the internal experience of it is radically different from individual to indivivual.

That being said a physicalist account of the brain would lead you to the conclusion that experiences are pretty much the same for everyone.
