Don't you mean coloun? Actually, that makes me think "au de coloun."If it didn't have the 'u' in there, my simple brain wouldn't be able to cope with the pronunciation - I'd end up saying 'color' in the same manner I say 'colon'.

Color. Colour makes me want to pronounce it like Co-luer.ff7fan2I think that's why it was changed to color. It probably makes it easier for immigrants to figure out the language, because if you're going to say"or" why put a "U" in there? SO apparently since the letter has no function and contradicts the way we pronounce color it shouldn't be in there. Same deal with humor and othersimilar words. At some point somebody decided the U was unnecessary.
That I didn't know. I thought "colour" came first, honestly.[QUOTE="Cloud_765"][QUOTE="GabuEx"]
Not only is "color" more efficient, it's the truly original spelling, too.

In English, yes, but English stole that from the modern French coleur, which in turn comes from the Old French color, and finally from the Latin color.
Now you are making me reconsider my like towards "colour". :([QUOTE="GabuEx"]

Now you are making me reconsider my like towards "colour". :( meh, imo "color" is not english, even if it is latin. Since its the latin, just because the english is taken from the latin, doesn't make the latin the correct spelling in english................:pI picked lawl cheeze plz.
Because I always say 'lawl cheese plz' instead of color.
"Hey, what lawl cheese plz is your car?"

That I didn't know. I thought "colour" came first, honestly. It did, Noah Webster was the one who put out the Americanized dictionary that got rid of the "u"[QUOTE="Teenaged"]Now you are making me reconsider my like towards "colour". :( meh, imo "color" is not english, even if it is latin.
