comedy should be banned?

If you don't find something funny, don't watch it. There's no need for wanting it to get banned.

I don't like MTV at all, but do I think it should get banned? No. (though if it did, I wouldn't complain :P)

I agree with you for the most part.. all media based comedy is about making money.. so they take it to the extremes.. and because MEDIA does influence people.. it makes people act stupid. The word dbag was never used untill it started to appear on southpark now everyone uses it, except for me.

I disagree about seinfield though.. horrible horrible, and very boring just like friends and all those other silly sitcoms.

No. This idea is stupid. If you banned comedy, you'd be banning:

Most of Mozart's operas (The Marriage of Figaro, Abduction from the Seraglio, etc)

Almost half of Shakespeare's plays (Twelfth Night, The Merry Wives of Windsor)

Several classic movies (It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Groundhog Day)

Monty freakin' Python

The list goes on and on.

im not saying comedy should be banned because "I" dont like it. i dont like alot of other things, but i dont want them banned. i hate pop, metal, J-pop, Pasta, Pork...etc but i dont want them banned. the thing is not someone wants something banned so lets ban it. its about having a certain standard so people and the world wont eventually sink to a sad low level of unoriginality and insignificant. i didt mean ban all comedy, i meant ban mainstream things. i mean Sienfiled was brilliant. i meant the idea of "comedy". there are alot of funny things in life without being like this. i cant express what i mean properly because of culture differences between you and me, but i hope you will get the idea.

for example, i hate hollywood, but i dont hate movies. i want hollywood to be over and gone forever, because the whole celebrity, the Insider...etc things are really low. i want hollywood to be gone and replaced with independent movie projects, with different actors, with original ideas, with something different everytime a movie is out. i think entertainment would be waaaaaaaay more interesting and productive like this. but no we cant have such things, because doing it like this wont make trillions of dollars and wont ruined people taste and mentality.

They are HORRIBLE and useless. Leave the country now if you don't like the comedies here. You don't deserve to watch them.

Comedy is one of the best forms of entertainment, of course if all you know is what they show on TV and "funny" or "comedy" then ya you might get burned out, but actually going to a comedy club and watching comedies do stand up is really one of the best ways to enjoy yourself. Look at stand up comics like Mike Birbiglia, Heywood Banks, Tim Wilson, Tim Bedore, Drew Hastings, Jimmy Pardo, Nick Griffin, Bob Zany and so on. Look some of this guys up on youtube I'm sure you will find someone. xXDrPainXx

its annoying, its insignificant, it unproductive, its BORING.edit: and its offensive most of the time too. comedians just take the tragedies of people and make laugh of them.

basically, im doing this topic because im sick of the CH ads i see everywhere on the net. That 70s show, friends, ...etc, they are all boring, unoriginal, and boring.the only worthy comedy show i have ever seen was Seinfiled, it was epic indeed.

Idunno, I like to laugh.

I dont like laughing at people's misfortunes unless theyre fictionalized or celebrity. I dont like laughing at people bullying people, either, and find smartasses offensive, you know the people that go "Oh hey there chubby, naw, Im just kidding, how ya doin?" I hate those people.

Outside of that everything is fair game. My motto is that if you cannot laugh, you really cant do much. Why take things so serious when you cant do anything about it. Besides, laughing is often a better alternative to the response you might want to do.
