My kind of comfort food is butternut squash soup:D It was the first real food I had after my kidney transplant. Hospital food is awful, worse than airline food.

I agree with that. Especially a nice baked potatoe or mashed potatoe with garlic:D Though I had mashed cauliflower once and it was surprisingly good.

Assuming comfort food means something that I usually eat when I'm sick, congee is rice boiled in water, rendering it easy to digest. Like normal rice, it is usually eaten in combination with various sorts of vegetables and meat. Contrary to what I may suggest above, it is a popular dish (bowl) among Asians whether the person is sick or healthy.
