I try to avoid some of the market-leading corporations (Google, Sony, Apple)... but yet I have an ipod and my mobile phone is a sony ericsson (4yrs old but still)... Am I weak? :( However - I'm starting to use Bing instead of Google now (even though Bing is Microsoft  ) and I NEVER download from itunes.Buttmonkey9000
Why would you avoid buying from market-leading corporations? If a company makes a good product shouldn't that be enough reason buy from them? Did they run over your dog or something?

I dunno - I try (and fail miserably) to break with the crowd... But more often than not there's a reason why their products are market leaders... they are the best...I avoid McDonald's due to getting 3 special ordered (no pickles) Quarter Pounder with Cheese that were not hot enough to melt the cheese. Papa John's for not delivering pizza at night to my 2 building apartment complex at night though they will deliver to a house right across the street from my complex driveway and claiming it was for driver safety due to robberies that never happened. Pizza Hut for not delivering to my complex when I didn't have a phone. Ubisoft for screwing up GOTY winners and bastardizing them into games that they were never meant to be. Apple, 'nuff said. Dell (I prefer to build my own PCs, but using some propriety formats is not cool). Sony, especially after the CD rootkit affair.
Are there any companies / businesses / franchises / services you refuse to support with your money because of personal or ethical reasons?

Apple, Mcdonalds, computer stores are the main ones.
The reason I dislike Apple is best magnified in a poster that I saw a guy in our IT deparment had today. I believe it said "Be original" or "Think original" or something along those lines, then displayed the Apple logo proudly. Does anyone else see a really ironic, flawed marketing scheme in the posters that have that slogan? I mean, I am insulted that Apple thinks I am that stupid. But sadly, a lot of people buy into it.
And Mcdonalds, well, they have the dumbest advertising, the worst food, and the poorest service. I haven't eaten there in over 10 years. It is pretty disgusting.
And computer stores I avoid, because I know how much money they skim off what they charge you. It is a major rip off. When I fix friend's computers, what takes me 15 minutes may cost you hundreds of bucks at a computer repair shop. And I don't even know crap about computer hardware (I am in software). And don't get me started on how much money you lose buying PCs and hardware at computer shops.

I dunno - I try (and fail miserably) to break with the crowd... But more often than not there's a reason why their products are market leaders... they are the best... If you like a product then you should buy it regardless of how popular it is. Trying to be different for the sake of being different seems pointless too me.Gamestop is probably my biggest one. I haven't bought anything from them in at least 5 years.SnipeyMcSnipeDespite my hatred for Gamestop I have to go there. They actually give the most money for trade-ins compared to all of the other local places, which is really pathetic once you think about it.
Beats me. I can't think of any right now. My years of teen angst have come and gone a long long time ago. Most companies are there to earn a buck. If they have something I like, I buy it. If not, oh well. Simple.
I actually did not list them, but I don't buy from them either. A while back, I ordered a new game on their website and they shipped me a clearly used game. It was unwrapped, and it had a "New" sticker on the front and back of the case, it had slight - but noticeable shelf ware. Furthermore, the disc inside had some dust particles on it. I will not take crap like that from any retailer. GameStop can go to hell. This is interesting, but I wish people would post more of their reasons. Like, why EB Games/Gamestop?
Atheos-Arkhaios
any fast food places, and coca cola.
really, there are alot of individual products i dont give business to, if that makes any sense. like energy drinks, or as i like to call them- liquid cancer.
I can't imagine myself doing that, unless they straight-up sent out a press release saying "Here's a list of races we don't approve of..." or "10% of our profits go to terrorists!".
I'll give pretty much anyone money for any services or goods that I feel are worth it.
subway, eat fresh my ###, naw it wasn't their food but it was their drinks, i got me some pink lemonade, was so happy then i sip some and it tasted like water, i had already left the establishment and was pissed that i payed for this, so screw you subway and keep your drinks fresh
Lawn Care, Microsoft, EB Games, Taco bell, New Disney, Disney stars and rappers and thats about it.
