Not a sport. Not happening.

What about Trampoline? Racewalking? Synchronized swimming?

Those are all in the olympics for whatever reason. Do you think those are sports?

It's an.... "interesting"... idea, but it would just ruin everything the Olympics stand for.

At least you do something physical in all of those. Gaming you just...sit there.

I vote noooo way. Just because someone is good at a game doesn't mean they deserve to stand on the same podium as a real athlete like Michael Phelps.

Gaming should not coincide with athletic ability because it simply is not. It is the opposite.

[QUOTE="Wozmcfc"]Stupid idea considering there are millions and millions of people who could be chosen to play for the countrys unlike lets say hurdlers in which it would be rather easy because you could just go the athletics clubs and race them against each other and besides when I think of olympions I think of athletes not gamers.DeeJayInphinity
Using that logic, there are millions of people who could be chosen to play soccer for a country, therefore, it shouldn't be in the olympics. The problem with your logic is that most of those millions of gamers are not professional. :| And the olympics is not about athletes, it's about competition. There is competition in gaming.

I disagree. Competetive eating is just as competetive as anything at the olympics. But if you were to have an olympic competition revolve in everyone trying to eat as many hot dogs as possible in five minutes, that WOULD tarnish the reputation of the olympics. That would make it some kind of celebration of gluttony.

So? Why do should you have to do something physical? It's still competition.

And lets be honest, half the people receiving medals at this thing don't deserve to be on the same podium as Phelps.

I like the idea of competitive gaming and that they have leagues and stuff, but the Olympics is not the right place to have professional gaming, not the right audience, and I'm not even sure if gaming is a sport I mean you can make money off playing games but I'm not sure that is what makes a sport a sport.

Competitive Gaming : "The anti-sport"

Im a veteran of several championships of the competitive flavor on the local level and i would never in my life refer to gaming as a "sport"

What reputation

What comes to your mind when you think of the olympics? Track, swimming, gymnastics. Anything else? Most of the events cater to their own audence anyway. They have outdoor AND indoor vollyball? What?

Gaming would only expand the audience to another select crowd while being ignored by the rest. Nothing wrong with it.

Well, I didn't say anything competitive should be in the olympics, but it is about competition. That's what the medals are for.
But my point is that you need a lot more than "it's not a sport" to convince someone that gaming shouldn't be in the olympics.
