I have a love/hate relationship with Japanese culture. Some things about Japan are really cool (history, art, architecture, technology), but other things are just...depressing. The country's workers are practically slaves, no real value is placed on friendship, sexuality is repressed, and a bit disturbing when it is presented. In many ways, Japan seems intent on removing anything that makes its people human.

But I think most hatered of Japan comes from socially oblivious anime fans. I can't say I blame the critics, an obnoxious anime fan can get under my skin like nothing else.

I'm not the one saying Japanese people are ugly. I'm just saying that being in Asian culture makes you a weeaboo and I don't really care what part of Asia it is.

You're the one saying Japanese and Korean people are the same, lol.

The bolded is completely wrong. There's a difference between being into Asian culture and being obsessed to the point that your life revolves around it...and weeaboos only like Japanese culture.

Not to me. I don't give a f*** what the word originally meant. If you're into anime and Asian girls and all that s*** you're somewhere on the weeaboo ladder. I called him weak-tier so I don't see the problem.

FYI, Japanese culture is way more than just animu and video games. :|

Try calling a Korean Japanese and see what happens.

As I pointed out with "America created the Japan we know today," I feel when we dropped the bombs on the 2 cities, I think that slowly did something to their mental capacity, which caused them to come up with a lot of the random ass crap we see today. So much about Japan before WWII was f***ing awesome (as you pointed out with your examples).

I don't hate Japanese culture. My favorite consoles, game franchises, and 'cartoon' are Japanese.

However, I am very annoyed by this general notion that many have that everything Japanese is better. Especially regarding animation. There are so many cartoons that I have enjoyed much more than a lot of the anime I have seen.

I do think that the hatred of everything Japanese is also very irrational. However, as far as the internet goes, it's the weeaboo side that stands out the most.

I don't hate Japan. As for the Wii, it is just a casual console but the people in system wars always look for reasons to complain about things. Also weeaboos take things too far and therefore give everyone the impression that people that are interested in Japan are thus weeaboos. Just like the pony thing...it's the same circle.

I think there are many admirable things about Japanese culture, especially in regards to education. And they contribute a lot to the world, culturally and scientifically. I'm not much for anime, but I like a lot of Japanese games and electronics. But as an American I enjoy my own culture the most.

I haven't encountered any weeaboos yet. I imagine they can be annoying if they get on my case. So far, I've seen some gangbanger wannabes who definitely tried to get on my case. Most of them live in the 'burbs trying to act like a ghetto boy complete with baggy pants, chain, hiphop, stupid arm/limb gesturing. They tried to tell me studying and good grades is a white thing. Well, they were Fiilipinos. I told them to F-off.

I don't hate their culture, just some of their key values. Japan is pretty low on the list of countries I'd ever want to reside in. This is coming from someone who used to look at Japan as if it were the promised land.

I don't hate the culture, it's a culture I don't know much about so I can't criticize. Some parts of it seem a bit much to me, that's from the perspective of an outsider looking in though. Because that's all I am.

There is the weaboo hate, but IMO it gets blown way outta proportion. Don't get me started on half the other poser cultures. I enjoy a few anime series sure, but I don't try to act like I have this great understanding and tie to Japan's culture because I don't

There are people who despise wapanese/weeaboos/japanophiles, which I believe is warranted because the one's I have met haven't known a thing outside of the scope of anime, manga and J-Pop. I don't care if someone loves Japanese culture, French, Korean, Chinese or Brazilian culture etc, as long as they don't shove everything about said culture in my face. Weeaboos tend to do that and then say 'baka' if you don't think what their saying is religion. Very annoying. I went there on exchange for 6 months and I can't wait to go back. The strong sense of unification and the etiquette of the society is something to be admired, I didn't get any weird looks or anything like what other people seem to experience and any minor sense of alienation disappeared the second I began speaking Japanese. Its a vastly different society from all the other places I've been to which are mostly in Europe, US and around my home country Australia, which I find to be a good thing. As a culture with regard to electronics etc. I find on Gamespot there are many who trash something because its Japanese and praise something else because its Western, namely when its American.

Considering I made a thread a couple days ago about weeaboos, I'm sure everyone knows how I feel about them.

On topic, I don't really notice the hate for Japanese games themselves. Of course, I don't visit System Wars very regularly or anything like that. I try to stay away from that place as much as I can.

Gotta admit the only things I hate from Japanese culture is the fact that after that Lucky Star the moe syndrome has taken the grip of many animes. And some clichés like the childhood friend romance and the stupid transfer student.

If anything, I see the opposite. Most people seem to have a love of japanese culture. Look how many people have anime avatars and sigs. Plus the outpouring emotion over the quake that hit Japan from all the american and european users was touching. I think that because of this strong fascination/blind attraction to anything Japan, it may rub some people the wrong way. Those may be the people you see leaving mean spirited comments.

I don't follow your logic. Why does disliking weeabos or the Wii mean someone doesn't like Japan? So, if they like Sony or Honda products they're in love with Japan?

Online sure. But I haven't really met anyone IRL who hates anything Japanese besides a few Chinese people.

I always liked Japan, but I don't love it enough to constantly praising them.

I think Anime is overrated, I think their influence in the world is declining, I disagree with quite a few of their philosophy, and I don't think they have the most advanced society like many claim it is, theirs games are not as good as before, and in general, Japan is often used as an example for what a developed nation should be , a model society, I've heard of that before, and I certainly don't think that way, in that sense it's overrated and I usually just say what I think.

People are starting to realize they are overrated in some way that is all.

To non-weeaboos it really doesn't matter.cheese_game619
Wtf is this racist sh*t?

I'm not the one saying Japanese people are ugly. I'm just saying that being in Asian culture makes you a weeaboo and I don't really care what part of Asia it is.

Turkey is part of Asia, so is India, so is Saudi Arabia, so does liking a Turkish woman make me a Weeaboo?
