Could a robot do your job?

I work with a computer all day... It just seems like i dont really need to be here. If the computer was smart enough it could just do all this crap itself. Cmon technology, make me obsolete!

Nope, a robot can't do what I do for work. Atleast I don't think. It would have to mix pizza dough after dumping in the proper ingredients, then grease the pizza pans, then roll out and stretch the dough to fit the pans. I am not aware of any robot that would be able to do that. So I am atleast safe for a while8)

No. Robots are very limited for many reasons. First off, 'learning' AI is very limited at this time and unless someone came up with some miraculous breakthrough, it isn't going to change for some time. Because of this, robots are more or less pretty darn dumb. Even the most sophisticated robots out there have most of their code dedicated to actually calculating the robots movement rather then its AI. Their AI consists of a finite number of states, and never a continuous number of states. So, how would a robot know what to do on an every day basis if it ran into an anomaly? It would fail at the task.rimnet00
