could it be possible we're being held back as humans by people with interests?

Lets say for instance,......

Do you suppose we know how to run cars on water but wont because to much interests lie within being 'Loyal to Oil'?
Do you suppose there is a way to provide free engery, like Nikola Tesla suggested(i think...) before he and his ideas were shunned?
Could there be cures to all the 'incurable' diseases floating around, but wont publicize them because a lot of interest in medical field?
Do you suppose 'they' know the truth about religion, but need the people of earth to pull themselves apart by fighting over which god is righteous to keep eyes off of the culprits?

or is the tinfoil hat on a little bit to tight?

1st point. We know how to run cars on hydrogen. That hydrogen produces water vapour when put through the engine. However a car that works on water alone? I'm sure there are studies being done but for some reason I don't think soemone has come forward staing that they have found anything. If they did there would be a boatload of money involved in it for them. They could create a type of car that never needed to be refilled. A hydrogen /water powered car that ranh off hydrogen then when hydrogen was used up it ran off the water leftover and changed them back into hydrogen and the process began again.

2nd point. There are beter ways at producing energy than we have now. The large oil companies control much of the way people think though and cast doubt on those technologies via the media.

3rd point: No. Diseases mutate and evolve just as every other biological organism does. Given enough time that disease or virus will become resistant to the drugs that were used to treat them.

4th point: They know the truth about certain types of religion. That being that they are false because they fly in the face of observable evidence. Do they know if one supernatural religion is right and one wrong ? Most likely no.

It is more likely that we are being held back by humans because we let those unfit to survive continue to breed. In fact, those that are less fit to breed sociologically speaking breed more often. Thus, we have basically screwed genetic evolution.

I don't mean to get political or offend anyone. But conservatisim is often the banner that hold back human progression. I certainly do not impose that pure Liberalism is the perfect solution either. You can't go off all willy nilly without some kind of balanced structure for advancement of human society.

All you had to do was write the first example and I would already agree with you.

Am I truly alone when I say that I believe society is progressing at a fairly fast and progressive pace, that things are still better in the world than they have been in a very long time (maybe in all of history), and that all of the problems in question (energy, disease, religion, etc.) are something that will always be, and not solely the product of top down manipulation?
