Yes, and I think it SHOULD be. It is in the top 5 safest drugs list. It could be taxed to bring in government revenue. It would lower the crime rate. It would get rid of a lot of people in the crowded prisons.1stCommando
Exactly

lower crime rate is obvious since it wouldn't be a crime anymore.
What are the top 5 safest drugs btw? Is it "illegal" drugs or drugs in general?

lower crime rate is obvious since it shouldn't be a crime anyways.

Dude he means because marijuana is used for gun trades as well and that causes a large gang and illegal gun trade stuff to go on. And for other drugs like cocaine and stuff

what?Marijuana make you act weird if my friends dad/mom smokes it while where around them it would be very weird. You can drink alcohol and still act normal where as with marijuana thats probably not the case but im tired so im not going to really explain myself I still voted yes because I think its possible.
Marijuana doesn't make you act weird. Just makes you mellowed out maaaan.Marijuana make you act weird if my friends dad/mom smokes it while where around them it would be very weird. I've seen people stoned do weird things and act differently or just be plain dumb, it's no big deal lol, hell, I'd rather be around a stoner than a drunk!

All my friends smoke it and I have tried it a few times you deffinetly do things that you normally wouldent like when I burnt my self with a lighter to see if it would hurt. I would normally never do that but when I was under the influence I did. Not saying only Marijuana does this but im saying it can make you do it alot easier than alcohol can. Alot of people drink casually and dont act crazy. Not to say you cant do that with weed but its alot easier since it doesent take alot to get high.
It's already semi-legalized here in Denver. As I understand it, it's legal to posses less than an ounce.SmashBrosLegendwell down here in the springs where i live, its only a 75$ fine as long as its under an ounce.
I know how it makes you act, so you don't have to explain anything to me. I also know for a fact that half of the smokers aren't going to try to burn themself with a lighter :? If you even attempt that you've either smoked way too much or your just crazy :P Marijuana is strong but you are not going to do stupid stuff everytime you get stoned. All my friends smoke it and I have tried it a few times you deffinetly do things that you normally wouldent like when I burnt my self with a lighter to see if it would hurt. lol not where i live :P ....people are going crazy over the stuff even without it being legalized. My friend actually got mugged inside his house and was held at gun point for money and im guessing their marijuana.

I thought it's legal to have like, a "water pipe" (bong) and a pipe on you, or is it if you have it and marijuana on you?
(also, it's $65 fine here, if it's just posession).
I wouldent want to goto my friends house and see his parent smoking pot right in front of me.Hulkness
If they already smoke pot, they'll do it in their house anyway.
Although, if they're good parents and have young kids, they'll do it away from the kids... like in the basement or something.
It's already semi-legalized here in Denver. As I understand it, it's legal to posses less than an ounce.SmashBrosLegendYes as long as you have an ounce or less and are over 21 years of age, it's completely legal in Denver. I'm sure the whole nation will do the same in the next 5 years... I hope the whole state of Colorado will be the first state to have it legalized. (lol, i live in CO)
It's already semi-legalized here in Denver. As I understand it, it's legal to posses less than an ounce.SmashBrosLegendA city can't pass a law that contradicts a states....
"On November 2, the residents of Denver, Colorado passed the Alcohol-Marijuana Equalization Initiative. With 100% of precincts reporting, the final tally for the vote was 56,001 YES votes to 48,632 NO votes, approximately 54% - 46%. The measure changed city law to allow for possession of up to an ounce of marijuana for adults 21 and over. The act is largely symbolic, though, as state and federal laws supersede local law, and authorities have already stated that state possession laws would be applied. However hope remains, for the passage of the initiative marks Denver as the first area in the nation to legalize private use of marijuana, for recreational as well as medical use. Is the legalization of marijuana at the federal level now within our reach"

As for the topic, while marijauna has largely been decriminalized it's legalization is probably far off, if ever. To legalize something formally illegal a case must be made as to why it should be, it's difficult to construct an argument that has a resounding overall obvious need to legalize marijauna and as it stands if it's not something that is overwhelmingly needed, it will not happen. What is possible though is further decriminalization, to take a law off the books is alot of work, to not enforce it is easier. Weed could most definitly become something just not enforced such as alot of those old silly laws still on the books in many states like adultery, theoretically they are still illegal but it's never enforced and would be repealed if it wasn't such a hassle. If marijauna continues to seep into popular culture this is more likely then and other ways of it becoming acceptable.
The main reason it isn't legal is because the government isn't capable of properly taxing it. Since it is easy to grow not too many people would go out and buy it from the store at an incredibly inflated price. Which also leads me to the legal manufacturing of it. If the ciggarette companies could creat marijuana cigs they would pump all sorts of addictive chemiclas into them to keep their costomers hooked. As a result many weed smokers would again probably just grow their own shafting the government out of taxes once again.
If the government can't make money off of something, well, then why should they legalize it?
Plus, if more people were now smoking due to the legalization, less people would probably be out drinking. Which would lower the revenues on alcohol and hence less tax money to the govt. They make a good ammount of money off of alchohol.
Its all about the money.

paraphernalia of all kinds are perfectly legal. until they're used for illegal substances. if there's any resin in pipe, a cop could technically scrape it and call it marijuana. that's if they wanted to be a dick about it.[QUOTE="SimpJee"]Once our generation gets in office I think it will be legalized. Dude. The Wire is so awesome. I just watched the end of the third season, and this has to do with this topic because that major did the right thing IMO. Crime dropped, the people were happy, but if it was legal it'd be run much better than they had it.
If marijuana were legalized several detremintal things would result from both marijuana and hemp being mass produced and industrilaized;
a) the textile industry would suffer from more sustainable hemp production compared to something like cotton
b) the tobacco industry would find many youth (their primary target) preffering marijuana over tobacco
c) hemp biodiesiel could effectively surpass the petroleum industry, in addition it would put many enviorment agencies out of business as hemp is more sustainable and has much fewer byproducts
d) the pharmaceutical companies will find their patients preferring the natural and less (nearly non) addictive plant than many opiate derivatives for painkillers
e) the stoner culture would push many parents and school districts to petition the government
I realize this is an extremely pessimistic overview of the "marijuana" industry's affects, but I believe these are primary reasons marijuana is being held back strongly by big government agencies.
