I think I'm a pretty funny guy, and I like to know a lot about humor, but I don't understand British Humor. Could someone please explain it to me?

What British humor? Monty Python? Benny Hill? Blackadder? Fawlty Towers? Mr. Bean? Oscar Wilde? Gilbert & Sullivan? Shakespeare?
Isn't it more satire and puns rather than American slap stick?tofu-lion91
Pretty much, although the Brits have a fair amount of slapstick themselves. It's just that they throw in a lot of dry wit as well whereas American humor is more direct.
It's a mix of witty remarks and utter insanity:P
I love most brit comedies.
Young Ones, Blackadder, Monty Python and Fawlty Towers are hilarious:lol:
"You fool! You must be insane not to understand British humor!"
:P Gotta love Monty Python.

I just hope this thread doesnt degenerate into one of these moronic and nationalisitic "my country's humor is better than yours" threads.
Don't be jealous just because you aren't sophisticated and advanced enough to understand the amazing humor of Japan.I just hope this thread doesnt degenerate into one of these moronic and nationalisitic "my country's humor is better than yours" threads.

Don't be jealous just because you aren't sophisticated and advanced enough to understand the amazing humor of Japan. The thing with the humor of Japan, is it's like american humor but smaller and more efficient!Personally i dont think you can really discribe british hummer as one thing, i mean on the one hand theres Monty Python and on the other hand theres The Office. Franckly theres such a wide range of humer from Britain that anyone should be able to find something they like and if not then there just not looking hard enough.

I've got to be honest, you're going to have to walk me through this one.
I didn't really get it until I watched Spaced. Fantastic show. I still don't like the British Office though.
You should watch:
- Monty Python
- League of Gentlemen
- Peep Show
- Harry Hill's TV Burp
- That Mitchell and Webb Look
You're missing out if you have not seen any of them. The only show I find funny from America is Scrubs, but that's it.

Agreed. I'll pop in Brass Eye, The Day Today (or anything Chris Morris related aside from Jam… unless you enjoy your comedy rather twisted).
Not to over generalise, however it's perhaps a little more self-deprecating in nature and a little more subtle. One of the reasons Monty Python changed the face of comedy is because it wasn't condescending – it wasn't broad or low brow which defined much of the comedy in the 60's. That's been perhaps one of the signature definitions of British comedy (not all – cue Benny Hill) ever since (cue the Office).
The Judean People's Front Crack Suicide Squad.
That's all you need to know.
Oh, and what is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?
