You have a 0.001% chance of having a child with down syndrome at age 30. You have a 7% chance of having a child with down syndrome at age 40. You have a 18% chance of having a child with down syndrome at age 45.

And 88.56% of stats are made up on the spot.

That's an issue exclusive to women; men can have children at any age. Fightingfan
The eggs are already there when the girl is born and has about 20 mutations on average. While for men the amount of mutations increases as his age increases. Of course you can simply blame the mothers because they are carrying the child :P

It's easier to blame others than reading into how it really goes :D So that's what always happens

Those statistics are off. A 45year woman has a 1/25 change of having a down's child, 4%, not 18%, Those are the stats I have from my Medical textbooks. Nonetheless all woman over 35 are offered free screening in most 1st world countries and then she may decide what to do with her pregnancy.

It's wrong to do what you suggest. It's a slippery slope that could lead to eugenics and even if they do have children there is a good chance the child won't have downs syndrome, even if it did it's still a human being with a purpose.

Contrary to popular belief, many people with downs syndrome live very productive lives and can in fact learn a lot.
