[QUOTE="i_Drink_monster"]Has anyone ever stopped to think that maybe Evolution was a means to creation? when you go to bake a cake, you dont just put a pan in the oven and think "cake" and *poof* oh lookie a cake. everything has to start from something. my theroy is god used evolution as a way to create us in his image. personally i think its kinda sick to think that everyone on earth is related due to the fact that we all came from "adam and eve". and plus how would you describe race in the creationism theory? did god make a "leeroy and shaniqua" and a "lopez and maria" and so on and so forth so that every race could exist today? i know the bible thumpers dont like thinking we started as amoeba, then turned into fish, then monkeys, blah blah blah. but seriously? back to the thread topic, omfg wtf its a f*****g game. grow tha f* up. off topic again, i dont claim any religion, but i do believe in a higher power. i feel that its good to have a reason to be a better person, but sectionalizing it into a billion different religions that all pretty much say the same basic message (which is being a good person) is just plain ridiculous. im not aetheist, im a theistharashawn

Many creationists tend to believe that evolution defies the existance of their god(s), but in reality, it only explains how some things happen. People forget that it's possible for evolution to exist and the Christian god, for example, to still remain plausable. The worst that will happen is that the story of Adam & Eve will be denied afterwards.

Seriously, to all creationists out there; just get over the fact that evolution is real already. You already had to suck it up and bite the bullet over the world being flat, people being made of "clay", and a whole crapload of other things. Evolution is just another thing you're going to have to accept.

Have you even read the Bible? Not everything in it is meant to be taken literally.

What is meant to be taken literally?

Do you pick and choose the parts you like? :|

Ever hear of a "metaphor"?

Are you proposing that the supernatural events that allegedly take place in the stories written in the bible are in fact metaphors?

So how can you and I know what to distinguish between what to take literally and what to take with a grain of salt?

How do we know if the story of Adam & Eve is true or just a tale of morality & discipline? How do we know if the entire Bible is undeniably factual or if everything is simply meant to be taken as a morale guideline for the reader? It doesn't make any logical sense for somebody to believe one part of the Bible but dismiss anything said in other verses as well.

And yes, I have read the Bible. It was a requirement for myself to do when I was in a private school from ages 5 - 12 years old.

So which parts are the metaphor?

The world being created in 6 days?

Noah's Ark?

Jesus' miracles ?

The resurrection?

The virgin birth?

These all go against logic and science.

the_one34

I have this belief that if God is real and has the power the Bible says he has then he can act outside of logic and science. Do you think that if an infinite God exist that we'd be able to contain him with our own logic and understanding?

But crying out "God did it!" every time one comes across the unexplainable doesn't solve any problems either.

SPORE is a fun game! And that's all it is, a game... they didn't say that this game is based off of real events. It's just a bunch of bitter religious crones who have nothing better to do, then to gripe and complain at something new so they can get recognition of which religion they are in and perhaps get money for pain and suffering.

GIVE ME A BREAK!!!

..... i never once said anything about the bible or christianity. i basically said theres a lot of holes in every "good book" as to how we got here and the like, but what should it matter. all of us are here now, alive, and as long as we arent going out and killing someone just cause they stepped on our puma's, everythings just gravy.belief in a higher power is just a way to keep us on the straight and narrow. kind like how (this pertains to the christian folk) when we were kids our parents would tell us santa clause would bring us presents on christmas if we were good all year. same concept, cept god i santa and the presents are an eternityof bliss in heaven, or an eternity in hell (coal)

To answer most of your questions, look to find how the original audience understood what was said. If the original understanding cannot be established then seek to find how the context of the entire Bible understands what is said. The Bible isn't meant to be read using reader-response criticism...

Fair enough. I guess that'll be up for debate later on when we learn more about ancient Christianity.

Unicorns exist. Science cannot explain everything, right?

Same reasoning as you.

It is possible. :)

It is also possible that I am god.

It is. But I highly doubt it, since you wouldn't believe in yourself.

[QUOTE="i_Drink_monster"]Has anyone ever stopped to think that maybe Evolution was a means to creation? when you go to bake a cake, you dont just put a pan in the oven and think "cake" and *poof* oh lookie a cake. everything has to start from something. my theroy is god used evolution as a way to create us in his image. personally i think its kinda sick to think that everyone on earth is related due to the fact that we all came from "adam and eve". and plus how would you describe race in the creationism theory? did god make a "leeroy and shaniqua" and a "lopez and maria" and so on and so forth so that every race could exist today? i know the bible thumpers dont like thinking we started as amoeba, then turned into fish, then monkeys, blah blah blah. but seriously? back to the thread topic, omfg wtf its a f*****g game. grow tha f* up. off topic again, i dont claim any religion, but i do believe in a higher power. i feel that its good to have a reason to be a better person, but sectionalizing it into a billion different religions that all pretty much say the same basic message (which is being a good person) is just plain ridiculous. im not aetheist, im a theist-Jiggles-

Whether you believe it or not there are historical records outside of the Bible that deal with how people of that day understood what is stated in the Bible. A simple example includes the Jewish Targums which state how Christ did miracles (though it's stated it came from demons as is also mentioned in the NT). If even the enemies of the Gospel proclaimed there to be truth within what is stated in the Bible then that should give us a hint as to whether or not the people of that day believed the Bible to be interpreted metaphorically...

There are about 3 things about Jesus mentioned... all trying to belittle his ministry. It tries to say that he wasn't the son of a virgin but a harlot as well as say he was demon possessed. That's basically how the Bible says the Pharasees viewed Jesus so the disagreement is understandable. You never write good things about your enemy...

To quote the great Bill Hicks

" You ever noticed how people who believe in Creationism look really unevolved? You ever noticed that?

Eyes real close together, eyebrow ridges, big furry hands and feet. "I believe God created me in one day" Yeah, looks like He rushed it."

Now, seriously, creationist is a funny side of this gold weird place, I love it when they fight back pro evolutionist by saying that evolution its just a "theory". I guess they never bored to observe the work of several sresearch groups that have been following bacterias colonies over decades and computate how they evolve, to the point where bacterias from the same colony, put on another place forced to eat something else, evolved into an entirely different colony. Literally, they witness a news species being born, and that have just announced a few months ago. Although that happened quite a few times over the last 15 years

That nylon eating bacteria its just another famous "proof". However, you dont even have to look for the grand scale of things to notice evolution. Its just sad some people cant see the obvious

I guess there will always be the retarded group we should make fun of it, they are as bad as a scientology freak

If anything, Spore is a simulation of theistic evolution. Evolution is entirely guided by an inteliigent being in Spore. Besides, I think that website is a joke.Rhazakna

This. Creationists should be in favour of the game of anything.

I, as a christain, lol at creationists. The discoverey that the earth actually revolves around the sun rather than vice versa did nothing to disprove God or make Christainity irrelevent, so I don't see why we should fear evolution now.

I have this belief that if God is real and has the power the Bible says he has then he can act outside of logic and science. Do you think that if an infinite God exist that we'd be able to contain him with our own logic and understanding?

2. Religion in general, or Christianity?

3. If you want to teach people a way of life that is going to get them sent to hell, by all means, do it, but be aware of the consequences.

Let's see:

2. There was water before land.

3. Water creatures were created before land creatures.

Just to name a few.
