I wouldn't be surprised if Fergie had some sort of agreement in place with Bayern before we accepted the offer for Ronaldo. I don't think there's any way he'd sell Ronaldo without somebody in place to come in. That said, I think we still need another proper striker and someone with presence in midfield (like Essien). I don't think Berbatov or Tevez are good enough to be honest, especially when we need to replace the 30 - 40 goals Ronaldo scores/creates. I have no idea why Antonio Valencia is consistently mentioned, though. He's nowhere near good enough for United.

RobbieH1234

I hope Fergie does have an agreement in place...otherwise now that Bayern know that we have so much money in our transfer kitty, they'll up the asking price for Ribery. I think we should also bring in Benzema from Lyon to solve our attacking problem if Tevez leaves. He's physical presence will definitely help us. In midfield, I think we should let Park go, bring in Moutinho from Sporting and hopefully with the return of Hargreaves our midfield will be much stronger. I haven't seen Valencia much so can't comment on his performance, but I do remember that he's a hard-working lad and makes quite a few runs.

As a United fan, I'm very sad we lost the best player in the world. BUT he was starting to be a pain in the ass. He's arrogant and much worse than that, he didn't want to stay at the club. He didn't love the club, and we can't keep an unhappy player.

That's the problem with this; every club now knows that we have £80 million plus whatever we already had for transfers.

Yeah, Ribery and Benzema seem to be the two outstanding choices. The problem with that though is we either leave him/Berbatov on the bench and have Rooney up front (where he should be), or play both and have Rooney on the left.

There was a rumor a few days ago about Nani going back to Sporting and Moutinho coming our way. I'd rather have someone like, say, De Rossi (what with Roma's huge debt) but Moutinho wouldn't be the worst. I wonder if Hargraves remembers how to play football.

I'm glad. Maybe this year they will be able to challenge us in the league and make the derby games a little more interesting though I doubt it. They still some defenders and their team chemistry will never be on the level of the great FC Barcelona. This will allow Messi to show CR up in even more matches next season. I can't wait.

I know Ray Hudson can't wait.

oh dear oh dear this is very bad news for football in general as well as man united. money has completely taken over. long live the teams like everton who go to the top with empty pockets. the irony is that i am a chelsea fan.

mark my words though, real madrid will not win anything because of this. my guess is a cracking debut followed by lots of hype of a new era, and then he will be sucked into the superstar munching machine that is real madrid, and disappear.

its embarassing to be a football fan with this sort of nonsense going on. real madrid should be ashamed of themselves, they're not a club, theyre a corporation. and who the heck is funding them?

and people, stop hating on ronaldo so much, he has matured a lot since coming to united, mentally and on the field.

jpph
Please, you can predict the future now? Real Madrid is more of a club than Man Utd, Barcelona or any other club is, proof? 9 CL, 31 La Liga, Club of the Century...

im gutted as a man utd fan and a fan of the English premier league as he will be missed but 80 million is A LOT of money. Eventhough madrid IS a step down, i say good luck to him

Big_Bad_Sad

How is Madrid a step down? Theyve won the Champions League 3 times as much as United and theyre one of the biggest clubs in the world.

 Typical Man Utd fan...tsk tsk.

I'm not worried about it yet. Sure, Madrid just got a lot better, but we still have to see who Barca will land. I read that they're going to try and sign Ibrahimovic and Javier Mascherano, yeah they're no Kaka and Ronaldo, but they're still good players. I also heard that Puyol, Iniesta and Xavi were trying to convince Villa to sign with Barca.

Whatever the outcome is though, it is going to be an awesome season. Can't wait. :D

This is totally nuts between him and Kaka though they are going to have a totally insane attack...not too sure about their back line though.

It's funny, because those players are pretty much the backbone of the dutch national team that was now the first to qualify for the world championships. They're playing amazing in the national team. Haven't lost or drawn a single game, although we haven't really been challenged either.

Real madrid just buys players, and somehow makes them play worse than before. At good clubs, the reverse happens. They make players good and then sell them for heaps of money... to real madrid.

Sorry, I should've added the word "lately". Of course no club would always do this, otherwise the club wouldn't have the money to buy those players in the first place. It's just that since a few years real madrid is buying an immense amount of strong players and you just don't see it in the results or the careers of those players. There's some amazing talented players not getting any playtime sitting on the couch of real madrid.

That's because of the bad administration made by the Presidnet of Real Madrid at that time (Ramon Calderon), and you know, Madrid hasn't always been buying the best players, we have played for a long time using players from our club.

I'll admit that we may have bought players that didn't benefit us like Michael Owen, Julio Baptista, Antonio Cassano etc, but Sergio Ramos has been fundamental for Real Madrid, I'm not that sure about Gago because he hasn't proved himself, and Messi is VERY overrated, I think Iniesta is a better player.

To revive this topic, I just found out in the papers that the 4 most expensive transfers were all done by Real Madrid. And in the top 10, Real Madrid has 5 transfers, and they didn't sell anyone in the top 10 most expensive transfers. It just kinda smells like trying to buy success.
