Critically acclaimed movies that you can't stand.

Seriously, once you get passed the awesome sets and costumes there isn't much to like. The dialogue is lame, cliché, and bland and so is the plot. :(

Oh and please restrain yourself from mentioning Avatar, I know that many of you didn't like it (I didn´t like it too)and that many of you will mention that one. To keep this thread varied try choose another film other than Avatar. :)

I had heard a lot of good things about Babel, but then when I saw it I didn't like it at all. I didn't enjoy any of the storylines in the film whatsoever.

To be honest, the most highly acclaimed movie that I can't stand would have to be... wow I don't know.

I've had a look at the IMDB top 250 to jog my memory, but I love most of the ones I've seen.

I don't like it that much, personally it's not the best the Coens have directed (but still a great film overall) and I believe that There Will Be Blood deserved the Oscar much more that year. :D

Yup. He can't act as far as I'm concerned. As for his "comedies", it's like watching a 6 year old trying to be funny at a family gathering.

This thread is massively disappoint for me. 2001, okay, I can understand, it's a long movie and it's very understated (but it's still amazing, in fact that's part of what makes it amazing). NCFOM, I think it was overrated, but you can't stand it? There will be Blood is supposed to be depressing, that's the point. What really kills me is Citizen Kane being called boring, unacceptable, unacceptable. Kids these days, if there's not explosions and sexy blue aliens it's boring. Seriously, learn to appreciate movies that can use deep characters to make a good movie instead of relying on car chases.

TWBB and Citizen Kane are probably my two favorite movies, this thread is making me a sad panda.

Plus I just love that clip and was waiting for a chance to use it.

i'm glad the titanic sank, yet at the same time sad because it caused that awful awful movie to come into existance...

Check out Cannibal Holocaust... you'll watch it very intently, and it will leave you speechless... but you WILL watch it only once.
