As for me...I don't really think I enjoyed There Will Be Blood all that much I honesty didn't get it entirely. It was a character profile that while decent was not nearly as fascinating as many made it out to be...on the flip side minutes ago I finished watching A Prophet another critically acclaimed, albeit foreign film, and it is excellent.

2001: A Space Odyssey. Maybe it's because I haven't watched it enough times to find the "true meaning" of it, but I've just never been able to wrap my head around it. I can still appreciate it being a big part of pop culture though.

The Departed.Gallego

Uh-oh this comment almost made me sick. The Departed is truly an incredible film and is my favorite movie by far. Scorsese simply executes everything he intends to, to the utmost perfection.

Most of them.

The big one off the top of my head is Godfather.

I also find Citizen Kane to be overrated beyond compare.

requiem for a dream. its just so gaudy and exploitive. of all the characters' problems with addiction, the mother's was the only one that felt real. the rest were just articulated impersonally and full of base shock attempts like body deterioration, rape, imprisonment, and things like that only dressed up with superfluous flourishes that only pulled me further from the characters. was the point to say that drug abuse is bad? surely everybody could agree with that to begin with. was it to reinforce that notion? it could have been much more impactful if it focused on the characters' humanity. was it simply an analysis of addiction? i never felt enlightened and the mother storyline was the only part that did anything new.

No Country for Old men. Not enough stuff happened in that movie imo.

Also Fight Club. It was like The Skulls on an acid trip.

****ing lost in translationHAHAITHINKNOT

Oh yah, this.

Obviously the film was drivel, so glancing around at other chellovecks in the audience, I had plenty of time to ponder the phenomenon of all the ****-eating grins. Here's the theory I came up with: It gives us an evolutionary edge...

In debunking a popular myth in Cecil's The Straight Dope, Dr. Song explains how it takes 12 muscles to smile, 13 to frown and only 2 muscles to fake a smile. So maintaining a knowing smirk and shutting off your brain through this turgid tripe actually preserves energy while simultaneously preventing any permanent psychological damage - kind of how loveable aquatic faux-mammals like the sea monkey or the water bear enter cryptobiosis until adverse conditions pass. Of course, this theory just assumes we have no all-seeing soul to rupture.

Alright, dude. I managed to read nearly every comment on every page of this thread, and nothing has truely rattled my tail until now.

[QUOTE="XiaolinPrincess"]The second half of Titanic is the good part. The parts before people are trying to hang onto their lives are the boring parts. No one wants to see too much romance. I always comment on how Rose was faithful. Rose: I'll never let go! Jack: *is dead* Rose: *lets go* Wait a minute! I thought you said you'd never let go!

Very true :P

Seriously, once you get passed the awesome sets and costumes there isn't much to like. The dialogue is lame, cliché, and bland and so is the plot. :(

Oh and please restrain yourself from mentioning Avatar, I know that many of you didn't like it (I didn´t like it too)and that many of you will mention that one. To keep this thread varied try choose another film other than Avatar. :)

yeah, this one. Just didn't like it at all. Bill M. does a good job acting but that doesn't mean I actually liked the movie as a whole. Now Groundhog Day, that was a movie that should have been praised a lot more. Didn't win **** even though it is a great movie.

That was the first movie that came to mind before I entered this thread. The other one I thought of was Avatar, because I see so much hate for it on these boards, I can't comment to that, because I have never seen the film for myself, and don't plan on seeing it in the future, it just doesn't appeal to me.
