Be happy you are getting a nice car. I got a hand-me-down that is older than me that I have invested around $1,000 in fixing the damn thing. It isn't fun driving a car you fear could break down any moment....
I'm 17 and I drive a 2000 Mazda van, hand me down.
I'm gonna trade it in next year, could easily get 4000 for it, plus another 2000 i've saved up and i've got a great car :)
Get a job, your 17, save up some money...You dont need a brand new 15000 dollar car, you could easily get a nice car for under 5 grand, you just have to check the local listings.

1. I was born the same date as you, February 17, 1990 lol.
2. Why til 19? Are you sure it's not until you're 18? I'm the same. I don't have my license, though, so I'm waiting til I'm 18. Then I can buy my own car (my $$$ :P)

same here. We have a car I can drive, but it's not my own personal car or anything.

Sounds like you're a spoiled child, "I hate it..." I'm in the service and I could only afford a $4,400 car. You know how much my DAD paid for it? Zippo. How about you be grateful? Spoiled kiddies piss me off, sorry.
[QUOTE="megagene"]You're getting a free car and you're complaining why exactly?B05T0N
That's still no reason to complain. I got my first job the day I turned 14 and worked my a$$ off until I was 17 so I could buy a POS Pontiac. I'd love to have waited the extra time and have daddy buy me a $10k car.

My first car was a 1993 Toyota Tercel. $800. Two doors, chipping paint. The A/C didn't work, the radio didn't work, I had to put oil in it more often than I put gas in it. The exhaust choked me when I stopped at traffic lights, the engine made that squeely noise when I turned it on, and the wheels made that wonderful noise old cars make when I turned. My mechanic told me the axles should have been replaced five years before he looked at them.
Oh, right, the back seats were moldly.
But hey, it got 25mpg and it brought me to school and work every day for two years, it brought me to my girlfriend's house and it brought me everywhere I needed to go.
I cannot even begin to comprehend being ANGRY at my parents giving me $10,000 for a car. TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS!
Man. That's just... that's a lot of money.
First cars are supposed to be junkers, so that every day you can say 'man this car sucks, but it's still a car.'
Then you work for a while and you get a new car, either by yourself or maybe your parents help a little, and you get a decent car and really appreciate it for what it is.
My favorite story is a rich spoiled brat of a 16 year old girl who got a BMW or whatever $50,000 SUV and CRIED because it wasn't the color she wanted.

Have the car put under your name and our name only, otherwise its your fathers car and he can take it away whenever he plz's. I bought my own car and im very proud of it.L8erSquare
His father's buying it. Prime example of why I h8 spoiled kiddies.
Dude, cars aren't just frikin' toys here, I'm so grateful that my parent's bought me a car, I couldn't believe they did it, but I'm just one of those lucky people who's parent's both work, and think that a car is a neccessity and not a luxury (which I'm starting to believe, having to work, having to go to school, which, btw I go to a community college and it's like, a 45 minute drive from there to my house.
I'm actually grateful that my parent's didn't kick me out of the house on my 18th birthday. I can't maintan a job, school, and car/house/apartment/health care payments with jobs that pay less then 15 an hour. Luckily my parent's see that and will pay for my neccessities until I get my career started.
Oh, and honestly, I say get a Mazda 6, 05 maybe, but it may be a bit more then 10k, but it's been 1 year and a half since I got my car, so the price may have dropped significantly. We negotiated the price down to 16k at the time. That is one reliable car man, it handles great, it's a V4 and you hardly ever have to fill up, I get 350 miles or so on each tank of gas (at least, that's what the little meter thing says.), and it looks frikin' beautiful.
1/ driving is 18+ in holland
2/ I will never have enough money for gas etc
3/ im 15
btw, how the hell can 15 year old boys/girls pay a car and gas ?
whoody12
They usually don't, Mommy and Daddy do it. Some do get jobs though.
