[QUOTE="thepwninator"]Dreaming Neon Black is one of the most oppressive-feeling albums I possess. It's amazing. But if by "darkest", you mean "closest to death metal" (which seems to be what the people I talk to outside the internets think), it'd have to be Amon Amarth (at this moment the only death metal I really listen to).Guppy507

Dreaming Neon Black is probably my favorite Nevermore album. It's pretty dark, but it doesn't try to hard to sound that way.

Indeed-it's just the way it turned out, and it fits. ALSO: I prefer Politics of Ecstasy, though I think that might just be because it was their first album I heard :P

I do listen to a lot of "depressing" or "dark" music at times. It's often classical, though...

I don't know.... Idiot Pilot? I really don't listen to "dark" music. I only say Idiot Pilot because one of their songs mentions being buried alive....

Puressence has some pretty dark songs. Also porcupine tree's later albums especially in absentia are pretty dark in terms of lyrical themes.

I have three albums I love that I would consider "dark" though it is the albums, not the artists. Godflesh-Streetcleaner. Tom Waits-Bone machine Leonard Cohen-Songs of love and Hate.

I don't know... Illnath? I'm not into "dark" music really, like Doom Metal and all that bull****. I'm more into destruction and brutality.

I dont think Agalloch is very dark.

You Were But a Ghost in My Arms

A Desolation Song is a lot more depressing than that. In general, I find their music really uplifting.

I don't really know what would qualify it as being dark. I'd say Between The Buried & Me is the heaviest, most violent stuff I listen to... so maybe that.

Darkest music I listen to would have to be Pearl Jam or Black Sabbath. Yes, that's as dark as it gets. That may not be that dark to most people.

Planet Hell by Nightwish comes to mind, not sure if that is the darkest song I listen, but it was the first thing that came up off the top of my head.

Tool. They aren't exactly metal, but the lyrics and messages are pretty bleak.

Suppose you could describe it like that. But I don't find their music 'dark' in that sense. It's calm, neither happy nor sad.

Shining is 'sad' or 'depressive', not Agalloch.

I used to listen to Velvet Acid Christ but I got bored of it and turned to something more mellow.

DJSAV_101

i don't see how you can get tired of Velvet acid christ. Bryan Erikson is one of the most verstile musicians i've ever seen. Lust for blood is a highly open ended record.
