I think it is what they should have done since the Order of the Phoenix. The books really started getting too long for single movie adaptations since the Goblet of Fire. Too much just has to be made up in the movies because of it. So essentially I am glad they are doing it, just wish they would have done it in previous installations.

I don't think there was even a casket at all in the 6th movie, though I definitely might be mistaken.

I don't think Harry kept his wand. I don't think the filmmakers would make an error that huge.

Ya that's why I'm wondering about this, it's a pretty big part of the 7th book/movie haha. If they never show the casket though then it doesn't matter much. They can just say in the movie that they put it in there or something. I need to watch the 6th one again.

It's certainly good for WB in maximizing profit, but if you read the book you know that unlike previous books, there isn't a lot of subplots, it's all critical stuff to the main plot, nothing can be left out without compromising the story. And that's, like, 700 pages worth of plot they would have to condense into two hours. I think it's certainly a good thing in that regard. This was a problem with the Order of the Phoenix movie. The book is about as long as the Holy Bible, and the movie was clearly cut down, heavily. The movie is good, but the editing and pacing is sloppy, and it makes no sense unless you read the book. Plus, is more Harry Potter really a bad thing? On a similar note, I believe Peter Jackson's Return of the King should have been two parts for the same reason. The extended cut is FAR better than the theatrical release (both are still excellent, though), but the extended version is 4 and half hours long. By releasing it in two parts, people could have had the full story, but with the theatrical experience we all love.

I'll hold back my thoughts on this until I actually get to see if the movies turn out well-paced and interesting instead of drawn-out and boring....

It's good for everyone, I think. They won't have to rush everything, like they've done with the past three movies, so we get a good, detail-filled movie that hopefully won't leave too much out. On the other hand, they get two tickets for the price of one movie.

Hell of a lot better than trying to cram the massive amount of story into a 3 hour movie.

I don't particularly like the idea of DH having two parts, but it's not really a big deal. I'll go to both at midnight. The only reason it doesn't interest me very much is because DH was by far my least favorite of the books, and I wish they'd done something like this sooner, especially for the fifth movie. That one was WAY too short, especially considering that the fifth book is the longest.

Good imo. Otherwise they'll cram the whole book into one mediocre and rushed move.

Then againi stopped watching after the 4th so who knows.

It will be irritating having to wait but this way they will be able to do it right, they wont miss out so much.

They are all decent movies. I enjoyed Order of the Pheonix, The Half-Blood Prince was a bit boring but still not bad. I'm happy they are splitting the movie just because they'll be able to tell more.

I think it's a great thing as long as there's not too much of a long gap between the two (which most likely there will be)

It's a big money suck, but I probably won't see it in theaters anyway, I'll just wait for the rental. So it's no big deal there, I think it's a good thing because there's a lot in the last book at making an effort to cover it all is great.
