No. 911 is the number people dial to reach emergency services in America, it has been like that for years. September 11th was the day the whole attacks happened.
911 isn't the cops' number, but rather a national emergency number, and has been since the late '60s. To be honest, I'm finding it hard not to think that this is a joke thread, as even Americans know that 999 is the number in the UK and other countries.

I'm not from the US either, but I know that. I believe the majority of countries use a 3-digit number starting with 9 as the emergency number, so I'd think with a little common sense if his country used a different one, 2 and 2 could be put together fairly easily.
ETA: I'm not sure if you mean that since he wasn't from the US the 9/11 isn't as big of a thing for him, but generally parents teach their children how to dial their country's emergency number at a young age, whatever it may be, so I don't know how a person could go all the way to 2001 without knowing about one.

Well it's possible the terrorists picked that date for that reason...but yeah 9-1-1 has been an emergency number for a long long time.
lol.. seriously? I thought children were taught to 911 in Kindergarten, did that change or something? At least15 years ago we were taught the importance ofdialing 911 in an emergency. Wow... just wow lol :roll:

I'm not from America and only know 911 when 9/11 happened.
I think its really stupid the way we use 999 in the UK. Anyone could lean on a phone and accidentally hit 999 and then end up with the police being forced to come around for nothing.
