Did 911 exist before September 11th Attack?

Nope, 911 was designated in 1968. It was agreed upon after the FCC met with AT&T in Nov. of 1967.:)

911 has been the number to call for emergency services for like 20+ years
9/11 just happens to be the same # (though some people will say it was not a coincidence)

911 isn't the cops' number, but rather a national emergency number, and has been since the late '60s. To be honest, I'm finding it hard not to think that this is a joke thread, as even Americans know that 999 is the number in the UK and other countries.

a weird coincidence indeed.

quite a coincidence that 911 = emergency and the attacks were on 9/11...I thought they were initially planned before that but didn't work out for some reason.
