i've read various blogs from bitter UK dudes lamenting the death of dubstep and blaming americans for ruining it.
is that true? :|

as an american, i can honestly say yes
now the same edm brostep morons have their eyes set on ruining trap music
honestly if these self proclaimed "bassheads" tried passing off what they call trap to any of the people who invented that shiit, they'd prolly get shot
[QUOTE="toast_burner"] No, it really wasn't.True. The genre is still alive, it's image is what's been destroyed. It was created by Brits, ruined by stupid Brits, and then killed by Americans.

[QUOTE="FrostyPhantasm"]It was completely altered by Americans almost to a different genre. Nibroc420Everyone likes to pretend they were the origin of dubstep ;) It wasn't the UK or America FYI.Who would you say started it?
Always thought dubstep was the younger, dumber brother of techno and electronica.
Is it fun to dance to mindlessly or drunk? Sure, but do I listen to it on my own? Hell no. There are way too many better genres that feature electronic music to listen to than dubstep.
I would like to hear some of this "good", british dubstep.

Dubstep is pretty much a different form of UK Garage.
Would this be classed as Dubstep? or Drum and Base? Probabaly one of the only Drum and Base/Dubstep songs I like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iG_UCgCxPE Yes Americans killed it, it started out decent then just got worse and worse. Chicken453Drum and Bass.
I don't really care for that style of DnB. I prefer stuff like Goldie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Usqwy2-E4SE
It all basically sounds the same unless someone can prove me otherwise.
What's there to ruin?

Seeing how it's a rather vague genre. It varies a lot.

who created it then?
You can't really ruin something that's already utterly horrible...Stavrogin_
Thread should have stopped here.
TBH I never knew it before it became a compilation of random toilet sounds. Whatever the stuff I have heard is called is just awful... Some interesting links in this thread though. Even if it isn't to my taste I like discovering genres I haven't heard before.
i like some of it.
songs like "Etude" and "Doomsday" by Nero are the type of songs i like.
i do like some Skrillex, like "Bangarang" and some others i cant remember.
i very much enjoy this as well.
actually, I like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTsWotmVjz0
but that's i think that's largely due to Ellie Goulding
