Did Americans Ruin Dubstep?

i've read various blogs from bitter UK dudes lamenting the death of dubstep and blaming americans for ruining it.

is that true? :|

Always thought dubstep was the younger, dumber brother of techno and electronica. 

Is it fun to dance to mindlessly or drunk?  Sure, but do I listen to it on my own?  Hell no.  There are way too many better genres that feature electronic music to listen to than dubstep.

Dubstep is pretty much a different form of UK Garage.

TBH I never knew it before it became a compilation of random toilet sounds. Whatever the stuff I have heard is called is just awful... Some interesting links in this thread though. Even if it isn't to my taste I like discovering genres I haven't heard before.

There is a great picture where there is a singer with a microphone shoved up his butt, and it says "The creation of dubstep". I think that says it all.

songs like "Etude" and "Doomsday" by Nero are the type of songs i like.

i do like some Skrillex, like "Bangarang" and some others i cant remember.
