i've read various blogs from bitter UK dudes lamenting the death of dubstep and blaming americans for ruining it.

is that true? :|

black_chamber99

The music must be pretty bad if fans of the genre are just able to call it in like that

looool this. Although, American music media does tend to take a music trend and run into the ground due to overuse.

Pretty much this. All we did was sell it. The only people who liked dubstep were hipsters looking for some none mainstream music to praise so they can look down on other types of music. We muricans decided to advertise it into the mainstream so now the whole world can see how bad it is. You know your music is bad when the only way to trouble enjoy it is high.

Wikipedia uses sources for information. I use wikipedia for college, cause you know, at the bottom I can find the direct source and use that. Wikipedia just makes it easier to find the sources.

Must be a very low level college to accept a wikipedia citation.

Citing the source you found by wikipedia is not the same as citing wikipedia. You missed the point.

oh yeah beacuse saying "LOL JUST GOOGLE IT" would work just fine on your master's thesis

and you just got done yourself saying that this isn't a music class but now all of a sudden you're concerned with proper sources? give me a break

either way you're still wrong. pretty much all of the producers, clubs, labels, etc. who started dubstep are from the uk but i knew from the start that you're too much of a troll to just admit it. it was fun seeing you try you're usual moronic antics though

VanHelsingBoA64

None of the posts where people are saying "This is UK dubstep" doesn't sound like Dubstep.
It's like how every rock musician likes to pretend they were some important stepping stone in the evolution of Rock, every artist/producer is going to try and take credit.

Citing a page which can be changed by anyone at a whim doesn't really defend any claim.

Dubstep is garbage. Best EDM genre is clearrly house

nomsayin
Power electronics or bust. Dubstep has always been bad-mediocre dribble that often has light Jungle influence. Sounds too prissy and overproduced most of the time.

The idea of dubstep having "drops" came along quite a bit latter, mostly by artists such as Rusko. It only really became seen as an actual thing when the genre spread to America. Hence the title of the thread.

It doesn't follow the guidelines of what is and isn't dubstep.
Might as well post something by T-Swift and tell me that it's thrash metal.

Haha now you're trying to pretend that I'm making this up. Genre's have a purpose, Posting generic D&B, or House, and calling it dubstep isn't accurate.

And tell me oh great one. What are the guidelines of being dubstep?

Haha now you're trying to pretend that I'm making this up. Genre's have a purpose, Posting generic D&B, or House, and calling it dubstep isn't accurate.

If you're unable to explain yourself then you are clearly wrong.

Dubstep comes primarily from two genres, dub and 2-step (a subgenre of UK garage) you obviously know nothing of the Uk music scene and are clearly making it up.

I dont care about "The UK Music Scene" and if you call T-Swift "thrash metal" in the UK, you'd also be wrong. Do you consider LOTR to be Non-Fiction?

You're avoiding the point.

Dub + 2-step = Dubstep http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsNYcEsGpGo

You are still yet to explain any of your arguments.
