Did I do the right thing?!?

Okay so today after Track practice my step dad totally exploded on me. I told my mom to tell him that I was not catholic anymore and he grabbed me and he banged my head on the wall and he started choking me. After that I ran for the door and ran away but my mom got me and they left so I called my real dad and told him about this. Also my older brother called his best friends who his best friends dad is a police officer so this is going to be a court thing. Did I do the right thing?

The right thing wouldn't be to report him to the authorities. . . but to engage him in the ancient noble tradition of Samurai sword dueling. To the death. Or till the other one apologises.

I can't comment on the legal side of things, but if you are telling the truth, just tell them what happened and it should work itself out, man.

Yes, you did. Since he's your step-father he's not supposed to touch you, and what he did is considered abuse. If he were your real father, it alone would be bad, but the fact that he's your step-father makes it a whole lot worse.
