[QUOTE="Godly_Cure"][QUOTE="JTWibble"]It can not be proved, we have no physical evidence. The bible does not count as the book also says man was made from dust and suggests the earth was made in seven days, this alone shows the book is a joke and nothing in it can be taken seriously. Science wins.JTWibble
I'm disregarding the fact that you expect the Bible to be scientifically accurate considering how much was known about science at the time and address the fact that historical, non Biblical, evidence exists.
If you could present solid irrefutable evidence that he exists you would make headline news.
I doubt it. The historical sources have been around awhile now. :| Are you threatened by evidence that the man existed? You seem to want to argue with that which shouldn't be argued.

"that which shouldn't be argued" - That says it all, you consider your believes to be so correct that people should not try to question them. If these beliefs were solid and based on fact and evidence there would be no room for questions.
I am not threatened by the chance that Jesus may exist; I accept that it could be true. However there are no divine interventions in this world, no disaster is ever stopped and no amount of suffering eased, we are on our own down here. If there is a God then he must be really pissed off with us because he has thrown in the towel and left us to revel in the **** we have made of this world.
Anyway I'm going to stop posting as this will go on forever, you religious fanatics will believe anything without solid proof and fill in the gaps with "god works in mysterious ways" and pick which parts of the bible are true and which are down to the simple mind of the man of the time. The fact that you shape your lives around something so fabricated and indecisive is one more reason the world is messed up. Small minded blind faith is the last hurdle the human race must overcome.

I'm not arguing religion. I'm arguing history. Perhaps you shouldn't feel your beliefs are threatened by accepting what history documents.
Yes, he did.Â
His mom mary cheated on her husband, because he wouldn't give her sex, and eventually got pregnant. She didn't want her husband to find out, so she told him an angel talked to her about it.Â
Then he was born and just rambled on about something and married a girl named Mary Magdalene
I doubt his existence very much.

It's not a question of whether he exists or not. Everyone believes that. The debate is whether or not he is the Messiah. I believe he is ;)saruman354

That part is not true. You shouldn't through out generalizations like that.Â
I'm not really sure if he existed or not, no contemporanious historains wrote about him...espoac
I doubt that's true....
Is it a conspiracy? A theory? Jesus did really exist? Make a reply and tell me what you think about this topic.mohan88It is historical fact that Jesus did exist

Did you watch the James Cameron special (which did, by the way, make headline news)? They found his remains...thats pretty good evidence that he existed.No. And I don't understand what the hell people mean when they say "there was definitely a historical Jesus." Do they mean there was some random Joe that existed around the time who happened to named Jesus or something? Or do they mean there is actual evidence for a proclaimed (self-proclaimed?) Messiah named Jesus of Nazareth? I'd love to see the evidence if that's the case; note, however, evidence does not mean mere hearsay.
This is mostly why I don't buy into the whole "historical Jesus" crap:Â http://www.atheistnetwork.com/viewtopic.php?t=3275

Next time pick a site that's not biased and has it's own agenda.;)

There are people who think Jesus never existed? I can understand why people wouldn't believe he was God, but that doesn't make sense.jim_shorts
Why doesn't it make sense? There is absolutely no evidence that the biblical Jesus was a real person, we just assume he lived based on the body of work from the second century and the fact that if we tighten our definition so that Jesus doesn't exist, we'll have to push a few other figures into the myth pile.
Currently nobody has proved that Jesus lived and in light of that a minority of historians have been able to craft a plausible mythicist approach to the Jesus origin.Â

Not possible. Pretty much every site that has to deal with the subject of a historical Jesus has some bias or agenda, however slight. I don't think these guys are too bad though. Although, next time you can actually look at their arguments instead of dismissing an organization by its name alone and retorting with useless rhetoric that helps absolutely no one. :?
I think he existed, the more important question regardless is whether he was the son of goddarkodonniesave that for another forum. This dumb forum is asking whether he actually existed

So, the documentary provides scientific, historical, and mathematical evidence to support their claim that the odds of it being the tomb of anyone but Jesus are so ridiculously high that it must be Jesus', but these random people post articles providing no actual evidence and mere opinions, and you show me these articles as if they completely prove the entire documentary wrong. Sorry, but it doesn't really work that way.So, the documentary provides scientific, historical, and mathematical evidence to support their claim that the odds of it being the tomb of anyone but Jesus are so ridiculously high that it must be Jesus', but these random people post articles providing no actual evidence and mere opinions, and you show me these articles as if they completely prove the entire documentary wrong. You're clutching at straws, boy. You can go to the wikipedia article on it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lost_Tomb_of_Jesus) and look at the references, most of which expose the documentary for the hoax that it is... Oh, here's one by the Archaeological Institue of America and they said the same thing, "It is a sensationalistic claim without any scientific basis or support." I actually can't believe took the documentary seriously :|
Edit: And about statistics....
I'll admit that when I first read the original post, I thought it was a very silly question. However, not being one to jump to conclusions too quickly, I did do a little research on the subject. It wasn't enough research to form any kind of credible opinion, but it was enough to realize that it is certainly a legitimate question to be asking.

Do you never stop with these religion threads? None will ever be as big as God vs Science. You can stop trying now.

Yes, Jesus did exist.Â
