80gbs is more than enough for me. It's either that, an 8gb nano or a touch. It's just a matter of deciding what video capabilities I really need. I only have 5gbs a music though toooons of videos.
Nope, I'm not even going to consider thinking about maybe going to the store to look at possibly buying an iPod until Apple improves the sound quality on those things.
I was expecting a HDD touch, so I was a bit disappointed that it was a flash player with so little storage. With the iphone price drop I'm thinking I'll just get one of those instead since it's just $100 more than a comparable touch. Either that or a nano. I've owned regular ipods since the 2G, so I'm just tired of that form factor and I'm ready for something different, even though the classic is obviously the best deal of the bunch. I'll just have to deal with hand-picking my music.
I have just preordered one from a local store for $389.90 NZD, including a 2 year warranty that covers everything. That's about $270 USD. Its the 80gb classic in silver.

I want an iPod touch. Buuuuut, seeing how I already have an iPod 30Gb Video, I won't get it. Plus I'm in the UK. So it won't be here for a good 3 years anyway. Damn you iPhone.
Im getting one bought for me, and the price isnt really an issue. So I've been told I can either get the 16gig Touch, or the 160gig Classic. Seeing as the 16gig touch wont hold all of my collection as it is, and I plan to increase my collection by ALOT more with all my favourite shows, anime, movies, ect. I'm going for the 160gig.
Nah, I still haven't moved into the next century of music players. I still use a cd player. :) I will probably get an mp3 player when they are much cheaper.
The iPod touch is expensive because it uses a flash drive not a hard drive (like the Nano). A 30GB flash drive would be an outrageous price. I have a 30GB iPod video and so far it works for me. I have filled it up, only 1.7 GB is music and the rest is movies and TV shows.
Nah, I just got a 30GB one last year and I still have plenty of space left on it. If I were in the market, I'd get the 80GB one but for those on a budget, those new nanos are really slick. The ipod touch seems lame and overpriced IMO with a minimal storage capacity.
its not a fair price but what in apple is? Use the student discount service if ya can. Also i have no videos really so i just need it for music, thus i don't really need a portable HDD with an earphone socket
Wow, just read the PC Mag review for the ipod touch, hard to argue with a 5/5 score and a summary of "simply the best portable media player ever made". I still wish it had a little more storage, and I'm still tempted to just buy an iphone so I don't have to carry a phone and an ipod.
Still have my 30 GB iPod Video (original). It wokrs great. The new iPods are getting a little nuts. (160 GB??!?!?!?!). I'll wait a few more years and get an iPhone. Isn't an iPod touch an iPhone without the phone?:|
Best Buy said i can take back my Zune i got2 month ago since i bought there expensive warranty, so tomorrow ill take it back, and get an 80g black ipod classic.

You can convert them to standard mp3 easily (and legally) in itunes. I started to do that when I was considering buying an Archos player until I realized it was a nickel-&-diming POS.
