It's awkward for parents and kids, I think. I'm guessing that most kids "learn" about sex from friends at school and elsewhere before parents get around to talking to them about it. Also, do you think that dads should talk to sons and moms to daughters? Does it make a difference?

Yep. they told me they wanted another kid and it was awkward as hell reminding them exactly how to go about it. I used flash cards in the end.

Nope I never did, just had sex education when I was in 5th grade, but I already knew how it worked cause my older brother corrupted me by showing me porn when I was in 3rd grade...

I was educated by late-night porn on a public channel.

Later on, (13), i was educated by the internet.

And finally, i was educated by a boy.

I don´t think i the words "sex", "intercourse" or "procreation" have ever been exchanged in a conversation between me and my parents.

Are you kidding? Of course not, the teachers have been explaining it since the third grade. It's why I'm messed up.

Nope. I think it depends on the situation if parents should speak to kids about sex. I'm fortunate enough that the education system in Canada teaches students about birth control and safe sex; I do know however that some do not, and they just teach abstinence, leaving kids with a lack of knowledge of how to protect themselves. In such a situation, a parent probably should tell their kids what to use to prevent pregnancy/STDs, but other than that it's just awkward, sorry. I'm really close with my parents, but I think I would die if they started talking to me about sex.

Nah, they left me a couple of Usborne books called "Growing up" and something else which I don't remember. I could have found far more illustrative pictures if the internet had been an option.

Nope. I had to find out on my own. My parents never gave the talk to any of us. I plan on doing so with my child at the appropriate age.

When I was around 10 my mom was like, sex, this is what it is... and proceeded to explain how it was done. That was the only talk I ever had on the subject with my parents. It probably influenced my thoughts on the subject; I take a very casual attidute towards sex, but not towards respect for others. If an attractive female approached me in a clear state of mind and wanted to have sex I'd be all for it. But I would never pressure someone into having sex with me, even subtly.

Well, you see... the bee makes a bzzz sound and the bird flaps her feathers for the bee and the bee starts stinging the bird over and over until the bird has had enough and eats the bee.

would you ask someone if they wanted to? or would the girl have to be the one to bring it up? say, for example, you've been with your girlfriend for several months and haven't had sex, would you try to have sex with her?

Ok thats it! What the hell is the story!? Everyone references it, but no one knows the ACTUAL story! :x

Edit: To clarify, I know what the "birds & bees" story refers to and what it's about, but I don't know what the actual story is, and I'm starting to believe there isnt a story. Someone just made up the saying one day, and people started believing there was a story to the phrase, when there really isnt.
