Exercising. I actually enjoy going to the gym and seeing myself be able to do a couple kilo's every week or so. I much rather that then having to say "no" to going out with mates or driving around to find something healthy to eat ...

i really dont like it when someone says that they are on a diet, it kinda implies that after theyve lost as much weight as they want to that theyll just go back to their old ways, which is not what you should do, thats actually the worst possible thing you could do, but in reference to the topic at hand, exercise is more satisfying but eating healthy is about 60-70% of what will help a person lose weight

Neither, both are equally important. I've tried just exercising, then I tried just dieting a couple of months later. Now I do both and have lost 21 pounds and counting.

your suppose to do both, doing one will not result in weight loss. Fat needs to be burned in order to get rid of it. Reducing caloric intake with no change in expenditure when one is already obese will simply keep you at the same wieght. You would have to starve yourself to lose weight effectively. On the other hand, the same caloric intake with increased expenditure will also not result in a loss of weight. The amount of exercise required would be beyond the capabilities of your fat tubby body.

Exercise is enjoyable, restricting foods is not. Therefore, I'll pick exercise if I had to choose one (though you really should do both if you want to lose weight, as so many commenters before have pointed out).

Diet is most important, but weight loss is difficult to achieve with only one. Ive found the most important part of weight loss is diet. You need to calculate your BMR and eat about 500 cals below that. That along with exercise and you are 100% guaranteed to lose body fat. Ive been doing this for 8 weeks and lost 22lbs so far.

I've been dieting and exercising for the past 6 months and the results are amazing! You are going to need both, you can't just diet-it's not good for your health. While dieting helps you lose a few pounds, you will need to exercise to lose that fat your body has.

If I had to choose one, I choose exercise. I'd rather not be a vegetable.

Both, but to choose one would be exercise.

You can lose weight if you exercise more and eat a lot of crap, I'd say dieting is for the weak.

if i was trying to get in shape, i would rather exercise. you don't have to go on a diet to lose weight, just don't eat massive amounts of horrible foods.

Both, diet alone can be challenging, but if you're exercising, you can allow yourself to have a bit more of what would be considered unhealthy food and not feel like you're a failure :P

I don't really understand how this works for me. My diet is probably the worst you can have without having a bad one on purpose and i gain no weight but the few times i have tried to work out and whatnot i did not lose any either.

If someone could explain this to me it would be great. I don't gain weight but i can't lose any either.

Both are needed, but I think dieting is more important to weight loss. You've got to make sure you exercise too though if you want to be healthy.
