Yes I agree. Remember Sam Jackson from Die Hard 3, he's one racist bastard, but no one cares because he's being racist towards a white person, though McClane does comment on it which I was happy to see. If you've seen 25th Hour starring Edward Norton, think back to the scene where he goes on about all the people he hates in the bathroom, the one segment on the guys at the basketball court is very true, I don't think I can repeat it on these forums, but while it's vulgur and extreme, it's ultimately very true.

I think that there is a different mentality and level of tolerability towards racism in different races, I think some are unnecessarily sensitive and over-the-top but that's still generalizing, I don't like to label a whole group of people as reacting one way, but it's true that there are more cases of white people tolerating and laughing off racism towards them while african americans getting all upset over small things. My aunt was called a racist by a black woman because she told the ladies kids to stop jumping up and down on couches in some waiting room somewhere, she was doing it just because the kids were acting inappropriately, but the lady was insistant that it was because of their skin. Again, not everyone is like that and there are many who think it's stupid and nothing to get worked up over, but there is a large group of people of every skin colour who have the mentality that people of other colours are out against them and any hostility is a result of race. It's pretty stupid, annoying and pathetic when it winds up on TV. But considering MTV is a channel made up of bottom-feeder programs that entertain people of the lowest intelligence, it's not entirely surprising.

This thread just reminded me one time when I used to dressed the urban fashion (sean john and ecko) and used to make fun of ppl dressed in the preppy lifestyle who were white btw. Funny though nowadays, i despise sean john and that xxl size gangster clothing and absolutely love that a&f, diesel and american eagle clothing.

It is the youth that this acting is usually, older people and mature people don't care if the way they act is more towards the perceived culture than another. But I must agree, white discrimination is not as notcied as much. For example, in a school, if somebosy called somebody white boy or cracker not too much would happen. But say something about asians or black people, and its much more important.

[QUOTE="leegar88"]Racism is never right no matter who is causing it.Srbanator

VERY true. I hate racism with a passion.

Its a ugly fact of human nature that will always exist in society as long as Ignorance does.. Meaning it will be here forever.

*howls*

wish I was black

so that I could shout

take that you gouverment

you got it all wrong,

they look at our skin or our colour

but who we are,

Both can be as evil and as good,

both can be as dumb and as bright

but the world sees no colour,

just black and white.

Thats what we get for building gigantic cities and aquaducts and miles of roads and even analog computers and water powered factories 2000 years ago.

And now they're trying to say that the Egyptians were black and Jesus and the Isrealites were black. Its crazy.

Racism is still a tender issue these days as it hasn't been that long since Blacks were discriminated against in America and all over the world. Sure, we have equal rights now days but there are still people alive who were discriminated against for the colour of their skin. I'm sure in a few decades, we'll all be able to call each other "crackers" and use the "N" word on gamespot and nobody will care because the memories of what happened will be immortalised on plaques and nothing else.

I agree that white racism is irritating, especially with some mainstream shows such as "Pimp My Ride UK" where they try and embrace black culture by acting black. If anything, this comes across as being patronising and insulting. At least to me, just like calling people "African Americans" seems unnecessary these days. In time, all racial boundries will crumble simply because people won't care anymore.

Until then, STFU you crazy crackers.

OK first off I call bull crap on the "racism is prevalent because of slavery and segregation" claims. Racism has been around since the Neanderthals and it will always be around until a black hole sucks the earth and the universe into oblivion. I see blacks hating blacks all the time. Jamaicans are historically hateful of Haitians, Venezuelans tend to hate every other Latin race in South America. America at one point hated the Irish and Scots. Asians are historically racist of everyone, even of Asians mixed with other nationalities.

The only people I see saying "Stop acting white" are the ones who have failed at life. Why wouldn't a white person want to "act" like a white person? What're they supposed to be? Gangsta? Anti-gringo? I don't think so. I never tell a black person to "stop acting black." I might suggest don't act like a thug gangsta but I'll tell that to anybody who acts like that.

I guess what I am trying to say is to accept it exists, deal with it, and don't preach to bigots. Because it will NEVER go away.

cametall

I agree with you. I do accept that it exists and I know it will never go away. This thread is about your thoughts on the subject of the original post and you make a VERY good and true point.

[QUOTE="Srbanator"]Okay, before I say anything else I want you to know that I am in no point here saying that any race is better than the other, in fact this thread is against racism. Anyway I've been watching Making the Band 4 and the coreographer picks on the white kid basicly saying he's acting white and that its wrong. I usually just forget about such things but it really ticked me off and made me think. I've noticed that modern society is creating an image of being white or "acting white" to be wrong. Think about this. If a person makes obvious and open racist remarks to a white person then its O.K and funny. But if a white person makes even the most simple statement, it could turn into racism against a black person. I've heard of a white people getting charged for racism for calling a black person Black. Imagine if the woman from Making the Band was white and that the kid she makes fun of is black. If she said that the black kid was acting black and that it was wrong, then it would be INTERNATIONAL news. It'll be covered on CNN and other channels discusing how racist it is ( it is racist but the point is that the white person's racial respect is ignored.). Yet if the person was white it would be completely ignored... does anyone else think that this is just wrong? Again, I am NOT saying that any race is better than another, merely that I think that white people are being discriminated in modern society. What are your thoughts on this matter?MrGeezer

Modern society doesn't think that "acting white" is wrong.

1) I am black.

2) When I was 10 years old, I'd constantly get beaten up because I acted too white.

3) The beatings gradually stopped as I got older and my peers started becoming more mature.

4) Kids are idiots.

5) Most of that pre-processed pop poop is targetted at kids. And idiots. Because if that crappy music is targetted at kids, and kids are idiots, then that kind of music is targetted at idiots.

6) Solution: stop dealing with idiots and you don't have a problem. Modern society has nothing to do with it. Do you think that the average professional and successful adult gives a flying **** how white or black they look? They might be making $500,000 a year, but they love fried chicken and watermelon. So they're going to buy fried chicken and watermelon, regardless of their skin colour. And if you don't like it, too bad. You can keep on tewlling me that I'm acting too white or too black if it makes you feel better, but I'm still going to end the day by going to sleep on a mattress that's stuffed with $100 bills.

Another person that fails to realize that I never told any1 that they were acting too black or white. The woman from Making the Band did. The point of this thread is not specificly the racism against white people, but the double standards associated with white and black racism.

Well, on a technicality every month is White History Month. I assume that you live in the US, and for the most part what we learn about US History or even Western European History, is almost exclusively dominated by white figures. Label me a racist or whatever because I "defend" White History Month (it should be year really) but the point still stands.

It is wrong. Then again, the caucasian race has so many faults to it, such as expanding the slave trade, suppressing the cultures of nearly every non-European, or non-European-descended nation on earth, and the creation of wars that could have easily been far less than what they turned out to be, it's not so suprising. To be white means to be indirectly discriminated against. Try applying for college scholarships. I did a little experiment for my Psychology class where I applied to two different colleges twice, once as a caucasian, once as a minority. I got maybe two offers together when I registered as white, but when I registered as a minority, well, let's just say that quite a few trees were wasted in sending me these offers. I wonder how that is fair? All those programs that benefit the minority, be they black, hispanic, native, or any other minority you can think of, were founded on the basis of equality, but in fact propagate inequality because their goals come at the cost of the majority, the white man. How is that fair? How is that equal?

Well thats to be expected considering that the population of blacks is around 10% Asians around 5% and I'm not sure exactly but hispanic is around those too.Srbanator

According to the Census Bureau's 2005 American Community Survey the US population is as follows:

  • White American, 74.7%, or about 215.3 million (the definition of White includes European Americans, Middle Eastern Americans (e.g. Arab Americans, Iranian Americans), Central Asian Americans, and Hispanic Americans who reported as White in the 2000 Census)
  • Black or African American 12.1% or 34.9 million
  • Asian American 4.3% or 12.5 million,
  • American Indian 0.8% or 2.4 million
  • Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander 0.1% or 0.4 million
  • Some other race 6% or 17.3 million
  • Two or more races 1.9% or 5.6 million

Each of the above categories includes people who identify their ethnicity as Hispanic or Latino.U.S. federal law defines Hispanic to indicate any person with ancestry from a Latin American country or Spain.

  • Hispanics of any race: 14.5% or about 41.9 million.
