So, Disney buys "Lucas Films" (for $4.05 billion!) a few years after they picked up "Marvel" (for $2.6 billion?). I understand that the company wants to become a multi-billion dollar company and some of their past marketing choices have not worked out (i.e. "Narnia" and "John Carter"). Yes, George Lucas wants to retire at some point. The Disney market allowed for "The Avengers" to have a decent budget. However, "Pixar" (started by George Lucas), "Marvel," and now "Lucas Films" are marketed through Disney. Not to mention, gamers and fans are still waiting for "Kingdom Hearts 3," will it ever be enough for Disney?

Disney actually bougt Marvel for $4.2 billion. and rumor has it that they're looking at buying Hasbro Toys next.

Disney better not allow for anymore "Transformers" movies! I can't take another one!

Thank you for the price correction, I couldn't remember the exact amount.

I think they did pretty well with the Marvel property just look at Avengers and the new spider-man movies. Being a long time fan of Star Wars I like the fact that I am getting some new movies. Disney can't really mess up the transformers more then Micheal Bay did. Over all I don't think this is a bad thing... or at least not until Disney proves to me otherwise.

Disney doesn't own ANY rights to the Transformers at all--films, toys, or otherwise. They're not buying Hasbro at the moment; it's just rumor for the time being. The reason it's even coming up is because Disney doesn't own toy rights to either Marvel of Star Wars properties, they both belong exclusively to Hasbro.

I don't see Disney getting Hasbro.

Hasbro is doing too well, and is very independent minded.

Pixar was basically part of Disney before they became Disney in the official buy out.

Marvel was on the verge of collapsing.

George was looking to retire from the industry for years.

Hasbro in contrast is in the middle of a wave of massive growth.

Do you realize that without Disney there would be no Avengers? Disney has done amazing things with Marvel so far. I don't see the problem with Disney buying up these properties.

Don't mind Disney. As long as they don't buy Sony or Lego, there isn't anything to worry about... yet.

They still have the film rights, the newest Spiderman movie ensured they maintain them.

Thats why many comic fans were rather pissed off at the last Spiderman movie release, as it kept the rights from returning to Marvel(and spiderman from being in Avengers 2)

Sony has the film rights to the Spider-man and Ghost Rider franchises, while Fox has the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Wolverine films. They had Daredevil as well, but they let the rights expire, sending them back to Marvel.

What's it matter? So long as they make good movies. Not only that, but deliver on all their other businesses (such as theme parks and cruises), which I think many people forget about.

This isn't really a bad thing Disney has done an excellent job with Marvel in my opinion... Pixar films are excellent no denying that. So if they did good with Pixar and Marvel I'm sure they can pull one out for Lucasfilms. Plus now its possible for Marvel characters to be in KH3 imagine Sora,Hulk and Goofy tearing it up.

I'm failing to see why your current animosity towards Disney exists. Yes, they are a company looking to make money, but they are doing so by coming out with quality films.

What part of that is bad?

How could Lucas retire without being even more filthy rich than he already is? Clearly a business man with absolutely zero artistic integrity, and hasn't ever had any.

Marvel turned around once Disney were behind the reigns. Hope to see it with the Star Wars franchise as well.
