[QUOTE="Stesilaus"]No, in the USA you have to be 17 to see R-rated movies, 18 for NC-17 movies.Among the poll options: "I'm under 17 but I'll sneak in."
It's rated NC-17???

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification.
I found descriptions of the ratings on filmratings.com and it seems that even a 5 year old could see an R-rated movie if (s)he were accompanied by an adult!
the R rated movies are in one hall, and the pg movies are in another. Sucks really. I'll have to go by myself to see it.mohfrontline
The movie theatre nearest my house is the same way, but the bathrooms connect the two halls, so I could totally by a ticket for G-Force, enter, go through the bathroom, and see District 9.

I thought R and NC-17 were both 17. Just that with R, kids can get in with adult supervision, and that with NC-17 NOBODY under 17 is allowed in.
EDIT: Never mind, I see that someone just posted the descriptions of the ratings.

You are correct. NC-17 films also have a very limited release. Most theaters don't carry films with that rating. To be honest, I'm sick of seeing threads about it.[QUOTE="MrGeezer"][QUOTE="MrPraline"] No, in the USA you have to be 17 to see R-rated movies, 18 for NC-17 movies. sammyjenkis898

Not sure what difference that one year makes, but whatever.
Oh, I feel kind of stupid, seeing how I work at a theater.Nah, I was only half right. Apparently NC-17 is "no one 17 and under admitted", which means that you DO have to be 18 to see an NC-17 movie.

It's not like it matters, though. NC-17 films are never released, which is a shame.
yea, it looks great, but I'm 17 and the movie theater won't let me just sneak in with a friend. the R rated movies are in one hall, and the pg movies are in another. Sucks really. I'll have to go by myself to see it.mohfrontline
You can see a rated-R movie at age 17. If you're under 17 then you need a guardian. Some theatres may misinterpret the rating as "17 and under."
And yes, I am going to see it. I am predicting District 9 to be the best sci-fi movie ever.
