District 9>Avatar

Loved both, though Avatar was the better movie. District 9 was orginal, but the first half of the movie didnt really work for me at all but likely the second half of the movie really got great. . Avatar I thought was near perfect

I have yet to see either of those films.

while i thought both were great i'm gonna tip my hat to avatar which captivated my imagination like the sci fi films of my childhood

I 100% agree. Not many movies do that anymore. For me Avatar was like Monster movies/ Creature movies were to me as a kid. A sense of wonder, excitement. District 9 was one of the best movies of the year, while Avatar was one of my favorite movies of all time.

I thought they were both great in different ways, but overall I definitely think District 9 is going to have a much more lasting impression on me.

I agree. Outside of the pretty animation, the rest Avatar is pretty weak imo.

I thought I was an "Avatar hater", but some of the comments in this thread are funny...comparing Avatar to Twilight? Seriously?

I haven't seen Avatar yet, but I probably will before it leaves theaters...I have a feeling I won't like it as much as District 9 though.

I thought Avatar was really bad, but I did enjoy D9.

I've seen both and I enjoyed both but I did like District 9 more. For me, there were parts in Avatar that was predictable while the whole District 9 movie kept me guessing. Can't wait to pick up District 9 on Blu tomorrow and use a $5 dollar coupon and I hope when Avatar comes to Blu it will have the 3D version along with the original in one package. I want to see how it looks in 3D.

I agree. It's a tough call as they are both very good,but I'd probably give District 9 a 9.5/10 and Avatar a 9.0/10.

I saw District 9 on its opening night and thought it was a great epic movie but Avatar is just pure genius and is so amazing that it will be hard for any new original movie this year to top.
