depends entirely on the girl, and how you say it.Which do they prefer, or does it depend on the lady? You crazy Love Doctors in OT know more than anyone else...

edit: i totally misread the title :P
anyways, i think it depends on the girl
if she's a goody girl, probably cute, but if she's a party girl or something, probably hot.
I think it does totally depend on the person and their personality when it comes to how they take compliments and what they enjoy hearing.
Like a girl who is always called cute or adorable may enjoy to get a compliment saying she is "Sexy" here and there, but I think most of all its the way you present your compliment that says whether they will be offended by it or not, no?
ive noticed you are very negative about yourself, especially your appearance. why is that?I'd rather be called cute, simply because hot sounds like a stalker alert and is creepy for me. :?
But, I've never been called either and don't plan on it. :P

As a girl, I think I'm probably the best candidate for this kind of question :P
To be honest, both are nice complements and us girls like hearing that, but from my personal prospective, I think the best thing you can tell a girl is that she is beautiful because "cute" or "hot" hint more at sex appeal, which yeah, that's a compliment, but actually telling a girl she is beautiful is just plain and simply telling her that she has beauty, and that is something that all girls strive for.
Maybe my logic makes no sense to you guys, but that's just how I see it.
Either one can be effective, just depends on how it's used. "Hot" is used in a sexually suggestive way, while "cute" is something you use after getting a good first impression.
What about kitties? :oops:Im black so I dont call girls hot, I say she looks good or pretty cuz cute is for puppies dogs

How about call her by her name?...And then include that she's either beautiful or gorgeous etc...when the opportunity presents itself that is..not just a random "hey, your HOT"..*slap*....
Most of the girls worth dating prefer to be called "cute". ;) harashawn
True, but that doesn't mean men only talk to women for dates. I've seen it happen in adult films many times.
It depends on the girl for the most part, but for me, calling a girl "cute" or "hot" is so boring. Why not a fun variant, like cuttie pie or hot cakes?-Sun_Tzu-Both of those examples sound like something an old man would say when trying to pick up high school girls. What does that say about you?

I prefer the words Lovely Beautiful and Gorgeous
Most of you are thinking about this the wrong way.. it has very little to do with the type of girl. It has more to do with the circumstance you use the word in. You can use either with the same girl and get the same results as long as you use the word in the appropriate circumstance.

Does it say that I am mature? I hope so, I've heard the chicks dig that.
Eh, I call it like it is. I almost never call girls "hot", I say "hottie". I'm not a very interested in hotties(it's more about the girls demeanor than looks when I say that). I prefer "cuties" and"pretty" girls. I've rarely called any women beautiful, except a few, which they were.

Nah, I love me, I just hate how I look. :P
Why is that?I think the majority of them would prefer to be called hot, because being called hot means you look well, where as being called cute means you're decent, but not too terrible attractive. As to which one I prefer, I think I prefer hot, but not by much. Most people who are called hot, though they are attractive, are also ones that aren't afraid to show it, and show it they do as they leave nothing to the imagination.Genetic_CodeI find the word "hot" to be somewhat shallow, as it focuses solely on the physical features; whereas "cute" is more of an overall description (looks, personality, etc.)
Depends on the situation. Usually I would prefer cute but if I'm going out to a club or dressed like it then yeah I would prefer hot ;]
But overall it really does depend on the girl. And just because she's quite or shy doesn't mean she would prefer cute over hot. Quite a few of my "quite" friends would really love to be called hot by a guy =P
