Its a stereotype and usually stereotypes are "wrong" but many of them hold some truth behind it such as this one.

magnax1

If you think most stereotypes are usually wrong, then where do you think they came from? I mean there are some obvious racist ones that are like jews are cheap and black people are dumb and athletic, but most of them come from at minimum a grain of truth.

He said that. Apparently, you didn't even read his words, only the first half of his sentence.

[QUOTE="BiancaDK"][QUOTE="magnax1"]It just the truth, its not like some guy got bored and started making stereotypes. The perfect example is, every single gay guy I know acts exactly like the stereotypical gay guy. Acts rather girly and are more fashiony, but I only know four gay guys. Its not like im trying to insult people its just the truth.magnax1

I know a plethora of homosexually orientated males that do not act according to the stereotype. You NOTICE the homosexual males that act like the stereotype, and that confirms the stereotype all over again, but alas -- you do NOT notice the homosexual males that do not follow the stereotype, hence you are left with the belief that there are none.

Lol, okay whatever I'm not saying stereo types are true for every person, but the majority it is. I do know a bisexual guy who doesn't act fruity, but i didn't know if he would go under the category gay man. Hes not normal in any way though.

You just keep taking political incorrectness to a whole new level. I will end this discussion now, for i do not wish for you to get suspended for anything. Thanks for the talk =]

[QUOTE="Theokhoth"]

Allow me to go over the things I have been asked to do (and in a few rare cases, have done) by women in the four short years that I have been openly gay:

"Hey, do my boobs look fake to you? They're not, but dumb***** from three doors down has been saying they are."

"Hey, does this underwear go good with the color of my ****?"

"Could you help me with my bra?"

"Could you wear these old panties for a while to stretch them out a bit?"

"Did I cover my butt with enough sunscreen?"

Either they think gay people are girlfriends or they really, really like gay guys.

I also remember this one woman; major crazy *****. She obsessed over me. Had to get her nearly arrested to get her away.

effena

The other stuff, while I bet is annoying, it's understandable. But THAT one...wow

I think it's because some girls might fantasize about actually doing that kind of stuff with a guy, but since he's gay it makes it easier to make that fantasy come true a bit. Like, since the dude is gay the girl can get away with it.

As a gay person I find this utterly annoying. My taste in clothing is below average at best, I don't enjoy doing women activities, and I hate it when girls flip over me "omg you're gay that's sooooo cute."

And it gets even more annoying when your female friends have a crush on you (happened to me more than once). It makes an awkward situation.

My best friend (who is a girl) is thankfully NOT like that.

yazter

Thanks for the insight.

I actually know some gay dudes who relate more masculinly, and then there are some who relate more femininly.

Well there's some truth about that I suppose.

I'm a gay guy and I usually get a lot of attention from girls. Probably because they don't see me as a 'threat', because the only intentions that I have is to have a fun night with them without ending up in a bed. Not that all straight guys have those intentions, but girls are always aware that there might be something more to it than just being nice. Also I'm not afraid to dance, I see so many straight guys in the clubs and they're just standing there, pretending to be too manly to dance. But they end up with no girl in the end. Then I think, come on man, move that ass haha! Also, it's really fun to spot hot guys with the girls haha queer laugh*

Cross dressing isn't the point. The point is thinking that girls use gay guys as some sort of pseudo-male personal toy.

Yeah, I never get to check a girl's boobs because they know I'm straight, and to the girl, that would be showing yourself to a 'guy,' wheras when a girl shows her boobs to a gay guy, it's just showing herself to 'another girl' if you get what I'm saying. Sorry if I sounded offensive at all, I wasn't trying to.

The only thing I can come up with is that a woman sees a gay guy as a normal guy yet at the same time nothing like the average straight guy. There's also the possiblility that they assume that a gay guy can relate to them more? dunno have yet to meet a gay guy that has admitted it.

I love drawing, and I often draw abstract but where it looks very dark and intense and ethereal and haunting, think of cold wind blowing over a windswept plain under a cloudy night sky kinda thing.

And I'll show this drawing to a girl, and by girl, I mean one very cute and sweet, and she'll love it, because the drawing is very dark and powerful.

Sometimes, cute girls like bad dudes. That stereotype might have a grain of truth behind it too.

So, since I'm a straight dude, I can't use my 'imagination' and 'intuition' to try and figure out something that may not necessarily be put in front of me on my plate, or in other words, 'obvious to me?'

And I may not necessarily be right either, I said it 'might' be that way, not 'is' that way.

Why do girls like gay guys more? If I were gay would girls like me more? But then if I was gay I couldn't get the girl anyway.

No.

Girls are not attracted to gay guys.

The kind of attention that a gay guy gets from a girl is not the type of attention that a straight guy wants to get from a girl.

To a girl, a gay guy is pretty much 'another girl.' If you are a straight guy, you DO NOT want to be thought of in this way.

Sure, it may look like gay guys are getting more attention, but it is better to get less attention for appearing 'straight' than getting a lot of the type of attention that a gay guy may get, granted that you are a straight guy and you want a girl.

This isn't meant to offend anyone, sorry if it did.

cu_be_cie

But see, from a strictly friends point of view i wish girls would stop that, so what if i dont like the ****.Some guysreally arent that different from a gay dude besides the fact thatwe dont talk wierd (no offence)
My point is that just because we are straight, its like a wall goes up that we cant pass because of our sexuality, i understand that with most guys but i dont think it should be there for all.

They aren't "another girl," but they generally tend to be different from other guys, especially the more "flamboyant" ones. In general they are more affirming and positive... I could be having a day where I think I look terrible and I'll see one of my gay friends and the first thing they will say is "hey, beautiful!" It's just encouraging. :P They also tend to be more open to physical touch but it's less awkward than with straight guys because their are no expectations, so they can be convenient when you just need a cuddle. ;) Those descriptors fit to the more stereotypical gay guy, but not always to others.

But see, the problem there is that if say a straight guy were to say"Hey, Beautiful!!"to a girlthat was his friend, even if he meant good by it most would take it as hes suddenly hitting on her, than its akward for the girl if she takes it that way instead of being encouraged. We dont all have expectations like that, or maybe its just me, or possibly i dont understand, but ifthere was agirl who was a close friend and she said she wanted to cuddle.. well thats that, theres really not much else to it. What expectations are supposed to have beenhad?

But see, the problem there is that if say a straight guy were to say"Hey, Beautiful!!"to a girlthat was his friend, even if he meant good by it most would take it as hes suddenly hitting on her, than its akward for the girl if she takes it that way instead of being encouraged. We dont all have expectations like that, or maybe its just me, or possibly i dont understand, but ifthere was agirl who was a close friend and she said she wanted to cuddle.. well thats that, theres really not much else to it. What expectations are supposed to have beenhad?MuddVader
A girl wouldn't necessarily take it as getting hit on, it depends on the relationship; however, the point I was trying to make is just that many girls find being around that encouraging... so many girls have self esteem issues so knowing some one who tells you you're pretty even on off days just makes you feel good. :P And I think I worded the cuddling thing weird... there's no awkwardness. I know some girls and guys don't, but with my straight guy friends I have more physical limits. When my best friend Chrystle was going through a really difficult time in her life, one of her gay friends would often stay over and just sleep in her bed with her so she wouldn't feel alone. I don't think that would have worked had Patrick been straight... they didn't have to worry about physical attraction or misinterpretted signals or anything.

Completely understood. But i think as a guy it should be our duty to know our boundaries, if we are around a friend that is hurt and going through hard times, interpreting signals pertaining to our relationship with said person and/or thinking about our physical attractions to the person should be the last things on our minds.

I can't think of any of my in-person friends who are gay but I've been in my share of situations where I was the only guy in a crowd of girls who were all friends, and they may as well talked around me as though I was gay even getting a "you don't count" when I raised an objection to them talking about cute guys in my presence. >_> Because of this, some of said girls had suspicions that I might have, in fact, been gay Instead, it's just proof that being a sensitive guy can be a double-edged sword when you're straight. :P
