I think to accuse a man of being a pedo purely because he is interested in a TV show is disgusting, small minded, offensive and dangerous. We already have pedo-fever in our society, and the stupid hype about it does NOT help.
What kind of sick twisted pervert are you? People can't enjoy a well made cartoon without it being sexual? You are a disgusting person. Maybe the show is just cute. Maybe it is funny. Maybe it is just really really good. The fact that show transends age and gender boundaries just demonstrates how good the show is. Men, women, kids, adults, everyone can enjoy this show. The fact that men actually speak out and say "yeah, I'm secure enough in my manhood to admit I likes ponies" makes them pedophiles? I feel sorry for your children and the traditional gender steryotypes you'll be imposing upon them to quelch your own idiotic fears.
The show has high production values, good plot devices and characters. These are the building blocks of almost every successful TV show that has ever been made. Watching the show does not insult your intelligence just because you are an adult/teenager.
However, the show is also mostly lighthearted without adult themes. Wow, suddenly a show is enjoyable by both children and their parents alike! Even the developers say the show was developed with this in mind.
For some people it is just a good TV show among others. For some, it is even more, and not in a negative way. I've seen how this show works as a great antidepressant, because it channels your thoughts to the positive aspects of life in general and might just be greatly inspirational to people down on their luck.Watching an episode is a good pause from real life and it's hardships. And that is just why escapist people get a little obsessed on the show and how the whole fanculture with the artwork, music, fanfiction etc. is born. I don't think it's bad.
For most people, it is not in a sexual way and the majority of bronies don't care about the sexualized art. The people who do that are just a small minority you always have, no matter what the show is.Even a smaller minority are the potential pedophiles, the amount is so small compared to the total fandom you can't even associate them with the rest.
About the sexual part -- There are furries that like the show and I am not one of them. References to Ponychan and all those other websites is just a heaping load of selection bias. A huge part of the internet's population is into making sexual jokes, that's true with any topic you give 'em. And I'm thinking a lot of people joke about sex without actually feeling any desire or anything, a huge part of the time. Humor's a cultural thing, and as far as TV shows go, I don't think it was MLP that did much of any culture's sexualizing. Tons of internet people look at whatever's in front of them andmake it into sex. It'd be true with anything, so long as it's online.
