Do nice guys finish last?

Well, do they? When I think about it, I'm reminded of the following example:

On the news, I remember hearing about a gentleman who was sold a guitar for $5. The seller was a drunken man, who was only selling the instrument to fund his addiction. Well, as it turns out, the guitar belonged to a famous rockstar. A couple years later, when the guitar owner's son recognized the instrument, he decided to contact the rocker. The rocker agreed to publicly accept the guitar, and repay the man the $5 he bought it for.

Think about it. If he wouldv'e kept it, he could have sold it for God knows how much. Then again, there's the whole morality aspect...

Sometimes they do. You always finish behind the person who is willing to go more than you. But if you are in a place where you can go to sleep at night accepting that - then you come out okay.

I don't believe in karma but I think being nice will really help you in life. Like what the above poster said it helps you sleep at night knowing that you helped someone out even though you might get hurt in the process. Its kinda what Bob Marley said.

Because women like that are shallower than a glass of water. Sure, looks might matter to an extent but dating someone solely because of the way they look is foolish.

That is a question i have always ask myself. I have seen that happen way to many times. My brother had a girlfriend a couples years back and he always mistreated her. Hes a complete jerk to mostly everyone. He screarmed, cussed, and never showed her any real respect to her yet they stayed together for almost 2 years. All I could think was "why?"

I think "Nice Guys Finish Last" is just an excuse people make because they can't get women and are looking for some kind of excuse. I find it pathetic, if you're a total jerk I don't believe your chances of picking up women will be greater, it will probably decline. It's more about being confident and simply put having the game to confront women and get them interested. Having something interesting to talk about, being funny, and not being a nervous, awkward wreck.

For instance, I'm a musician so music is something that always comes up when I talk to women. Sometimes just telling a woman I'm a musician gets me in the door and I'm a pretty nice and charitable guy and I don't think changing my attitude will help at all. I think being yourself helps a lot, find something about yourself that makes you interesting to women. (And no, I don't think women will be interested about your level on Gamespot forums.).

A lot of girls like the idea of the unatainable. The guy others couldnt tame would be theirs to domesticate. Its not like I just flirt with jerks - I flirt with people I like, and some of them turn out to be jerks while some of them turn out to be amazing guys - for all we know you could be a jerk too. But what I'm trying to say is desperation reeks and is a major turn off. Give the girl something to chase - just like she will also do with you. If it was that easy, it would already be done.

I think nice guys do finish last, it really is a dog eat dog world and you'd be surprised how few of them actually have any sort of moral conflict.

Nope, I don't buy into the mindset.

The girl problems on these threads has nothing to do with "being nice" or a "being a jerk." Its the lack of confidence and overthinking about things. Girls can smell insecurity from a mile away and its a HUGE turn off. Girls like to be told what to do. Sorry, but its the truth. You have to be confident and assertive.

I'm a VERY nice guy, and I was a lot like you guys. Then one day I was like "F' it, I'm awesome" and just started to talk to girls easier and easier and in no time I was getting numbers and dates. Plus you should present yourself nicely. Girls aren't so much attracted to looks as they are a guy who dresses and smells nice. Work with what God gave you.

I know a lot of "nice guys" that are VERY successful. Tommy Tallarico and Tom Salta are great examples of this.
