Not news, California has been the worst place to live for decades. Sure TV andmovies make it look great, but not everyone lives in a gated community. Just the wealthy. Crime has ALWAYS been terrible there. So if yourprofession is law enforcement and you need a job try a California division. Lot of work but one of the most dangerous enforcementjobs in the U.S aside from Florida and New York. The cost of living is unreal.

SupraGT

Um, LA is one of the most safest large city in the entire country.

The cost of living is not so bad when we get higher wages than the rest of the country ;)

CA is still the best place to live in the country even with our crappy budget for schools and high unemployment. I don't want to move to anywhere else in the country except maybe NY,NY. Everywhere else looks uninteresting to me and boring to me.

The source is worthless The source discredits itself by attempting to claim L.A is one of the safest cities in the entire country. Any state you live in there metros and megaswill be full of crime because that's where the people travel through so crime loiters there. California is BROKE and has been. Theft is the method of income for many who live there. Why do you think L.A has such an advanced well fundedtactical team? Not for fun. They actually need it. The larger the city is the more dangerous it will be simply because a higher percentage of people means a higher percentage of criminals. Some areas are nothing but gangs. It hasn't changed. The gangs change but the city doesn't.

[QUOTE="acsam12304"]

the gas prices is not the only thing.

they do want to pass carbon laws that will force businesses to buy carbon credits in order to do business in CA. lets say you have for example a cement company that makes cement. well making cement emits a certain amount of carbons in the air. you as a owner HAS to buy carbon credits that equals the amount of carbon you will emit. if you pass the certain amount of carbon emissions you emit and do not have enough credits for it you will get fined. unless you buy credits from an other business owner who did not use all his credits. but you have to buy the credits from a broker and that broker will charge you a fee for buying the credits. and if you do not buy any credits at all you will get fines and have a chance to be closed down. and the credits are not going to be cheap either. A "Cap-and Trade" is what its being called. The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association is so against this and so are many other tax groups the are for the people. they see this as a big major threat to CA.

CARB can and will try they even said so them selfs they will try to get gas prices so high raise the parking meter fees even more and charge a way to charge people .25 cent if you will use the freeways in peak traffic hours just they can make it imposable to drive. they want to force people to take public buses, subways, ride bikes, take trains. they want to stop housing companies to stop building in suburb areas and build in side already crowded cities. make them build condos instead and town homes in side the cities. they want to make it hard for people that live in suburb areas so they will move back into the city.

and do you live in CA?

acsam12304

yes i do

and like i said, i can give you lots of other reasons why not to move to California

stuff thats actually happening now, real reasons, not the stuff that u posted

so you saying dont care about on what going to come and focus on whats happening right now? well duhh whats happening right now will affect whats going to happen later.

and you know so many bad things about here why are you arguing with me help me list them all. sales tax is very high. the DMV "fees" are high.

im doing this because i want people to open there eyes and do something and let people out of state know that what ever ads you see on TV about "come to move to CA" and list all the good things is false. matter a fact a lot of movie companies are starting to think about moving other state like Atlanta, Georgia. because the taxes is fair there here in CA.

yes focus on whats happening now but never leave out things that will soon to come. and dont say i didnt warn you

im arguing with you because u dont know what ur talking about

20% unemployment rate??

stick to conspiracy theories bro

Gibsonsg527

prop 19 was a tick use to get people who never voted in there life to go vote for 19 and hoping they will fall for the trick to vote for the other misleading props like 23 "green" bill that passed

There is only one reason to avoid California. It's not the state budget. Or the politicians. Nope. Don't come to California because of the awful public education system. I mean, seriously, we have the most worst public education system ever.

Our public universities are the most prestigious in the country, some of them rival ivy league schools.

i know the cigarette tax money suppose to go to educational purposes and help promote people not to smoke. but that money is getting pulled out of the guys in CA's state capital and they are wasting that money for there own use. giving it to unions or taking trips to other countries and calming to be "official business" yeah sure as hell the tace of that money showed it they bought purses, watches, wise, hotel suites

or just sitting there in accounts and doing nothing. and instead of putting it to good use they just let it sit there.

[QUOTE="acsam12304"]uhh no its 20%.Mousetaches

Sorry, but thats not true

ill say it again

uhh no its 20%.

the way they count unemployment goes like this. they count unemployment when someone applies for unemployment (UPM) benefits. that person get a a time limit on how long they get the benefits. the people getting UPM benefits gets counted so its 12%. BUT they never count them in the stats when there time to get benefits expires. so the next wave of people that gets UPM benefits are counted. which is 12%. and once there benefits expires they are no longer counted.

so at the you have all these people that are out of work and can not get hired because no one is hiring, and they already used up there benefits. they are not counted. they do no combine the number of people that are getting money from benefits with the number of people who already used up there benefits.

thats one dirty tirck they are using to fool the people.

that is why when there are less people that applies for UPM benefits , the news say "oh unemployment is down this month." but thats because they are not counting the people already been got help from benefits.

so the fake number is always going to be 12% but really there are more people out of work.

Kindergarten to High School is a mess. The dropout rate is 50% = half of the students in high school drop out, last time I checked. We don't even have enough money for helpful programs and even for summer school.

But worse of all the student's attitudes towards school. A overwhelming amount just don't care and fail a class, which'll mean that they'll have to take another whole year. Sad to say but not many are commited and they just give up. It's going to be hellish for them in the future because by 2025, 60% of jobs in California will require college educations. And where I live is the Silicon Valley, which means that many people from the around the world will be competing for jobs by the time I get out of college.

schools, sales tax very high 10% in LA county, illegal immigrants, government mismanage, people getting fooled and tricked to vote for the wrong thing, very high business corporate taxes, very high income taxes. did you know CA is the most unfriendly place to do business in the nation?

really and STILL you have not posted anything up. pleasedont post anything until you have anything.

so this is how you think. *crooked head, with crooked eyes* "uhh ill just think about now and forget about the future, even tho what happens now affects teh future"

yeah sure. plus didnt you say thank for playing. that means you will stop, then why are you still coming here and posting. made my point again. oh dancing with the stars is on im sure you do not want to miss that.

I have no plans to live in Cali. Even as a socially liberal atheist I've come to prefer Texas and the South. I love Austin, TX, Fayetteville, AR, and Atlanta, GA particular.

I can't see myself ever moving back to the west coast.

and im afraid the kids of today wont be ready to handle the demanding job force. i notice that the kids today (15-25, and now people are saying 25 is the new 18 ) are wanting to have a easier job, not wanting to do a a job that will mean hard work. heck a lot of trade company are wondering if there will be younger people around to pass the trade to.

yeah its my fault for not pushing the people i know to take schooling seriously. and it is the peoples fualt who votes for props thinking YES is a good thing and NO is a bad thing. and it is my fault too because i voted all Decorated lines in 2008

I have no plans to live in Cali. Even as a socially liberal atheist I've come to prefer Texas and the South. I love Austin, TX, Fayetteville, AR, and Atlanta, GA particular.

I can't see myself ever moving back to the west coast.

VigilanteArtist

i heard that TX give business incentives if you decide to move your company there

and im afraid the kids of today wont be ready to handle the demanding job force. i notice that the kids today (15-25, and now people are saying 25 is the new 18 ) are wanting to have a easier job, not wanting to do a a job that will mean hard work. heck a lot of trade company are wondering if there will be younger people around to pass the trade to.

acsam12304

I guess I'm an anomaly. I'm 24, work full-time and own my home. It was rough finding a job here and I'm still not making what I'd like to be, but I'm pretty satisfied with life here. It's far nicer than where I used to live (Nevada).

I live in NorCal and I like it. There's very few other places I would want to live in the US. Seattle, Miami, Orlando, and NY. Otherwise I'm happy here in California.

The points against the high-speed rail system are just stupid... but I will agree that from a financial standpoint you could find far better places to live. I do love this state though, I hope eventually things get ironed out.

i know right its crazy. same thing in Japan, they said a lot of the males from 18-25 are lazy "Metro" sexual men, that prefers to not work long hours, how do any job that is hard labor, or very stressful both mental/ and physical. and they spend a lot of time in department stores looking at cosmetics, and pay less attention to there girlfriend or wife and more likely to buy a gift for there mothers then there girlfriend or wife.

heck ad company are starting are confused and wonder who to target the cosmetic ad too the men or women.

hows it stupid?

the part that we dont have $10 billion that it suppose to cost and at the end it will cost $43 billion ( thats what teh CA state said them selfs)

the part where people will fight this mile for mile in law lawsuit that will waste more money and never get things done.

the part where China is more likely will get teh bid to build the rail system them selfs and we will never see circulation of the money here but go back to China?

the part if this is a fail which more likely it will we will still have to pay China the guaranty money which will mean it will be CA tax payers money.

the part where its useless because like the "train to teh sea" that was part of LA project never was finish and stop short at by the beach coast in the west side of LA?and on top of that it was suppose to cost $1 billion to make at the end "they miscalculated" the cost and the tax payers had to fork over another $4.1 billion to finish it and still it is not finish.

studies been showing public transportation is costing cities about $1 billion a year to continue the operations. they said the money put in in meaning less projects like this can be use instead make more freeways or make more freeway lanes to ease traffic in them.

let alone CA over 50% of people working in CA are service type workers who commute from suburb to the city.

so which point sounds stupid?

and yes i love CA. i just hate how its being ran and the guys in Sacramento are using people that are not really knowing on whats going on to take advantage of it and trick the people to vote for props and vote people into office that will help make things harder.

I live in California too. Don't have much hope for the future. With family here I don't imagine I'll get much chance to move.

You forgot to metion the state supreme court recently made it legal for cops to search all aspects of your cell phone without a warrent.

I support the rail because

1)Already by plane, there are tons of trips to and fro SF and LA and this high speed rail is a good corridor between the 2 most important cities in CA.

2) it will cause economic growth in the middle of nowhere cities since they will be connected much easily.

3) It reduces our dependence on fossil fuels which are becoming really scarce as time goes on.

4)at the time it is being built, it will create many jobs

5) People WILL use it. Think about it. No hassle for airport security or check points. It's already more attractive. And it will most likely cost less than driving round trip.

The train to the sea was approved by the 30/10 initiative and will get finished.

All of these projects will only help LA and CA grow.

Been in Cali for 5 years now, I love it here. Economy and govt is a little bit so-so, but its a great State. Wouldn't trade it to let say.. North Dakota or Vermont.. or Idaho.
