I agree. I couldn't get into them because they were depressing as hell and their music was pretty rudimentary for rock. I can't even remember a Cobain solo. That means they were either really, really bad, or nonexistent.[QUOTE="Serraph105"]
I don't get why people seem to have Nirvana on the same type of pedestal that they have Led Zepplin on. Nirvana is by no means a bad band, but they really did nothing that deserved such attention.

I think they get worshipped because Cobain died young and was influential (even though he mostly just influenced crap).
Nirvana changed music by pushing out hair metal and bringing grunge into the spotlight. They are flat out responsible for all the great music getting played on the radio in the 90's by changing the slate of what was popular.
I can remember his solo's. They are great and simplistic at the same time. In Bloom has one of them at the 3:00 mark. They aren't amazing mind you and short but they are there and I remember there. Besides, not all music needs solo's seriously.
What's great about Nirvana is the songs were simplistic and yet they were so emotionally charged thanks to Cobain that they ended up amazing. I will take a simple song like In Bloom over any death metal (And yes I do enjoy some death metal) any day.
Cobain was an incredible frontman who led a band that changed the face of music, that is why he is remembered. Had he not committed suicide they would have continue to put out great music and I can say this confidently because of the songs I have heard that never made it onto their big releases including You Know You're Right.
Back in middle school I used to listen to Nirvana and Metallica because i thought it made me "hardcore." Then I got taste in music.
