I jumped during Zombieland, yesterday. Scary movies are rarely scary, though. They rely on the 'jump' factor, rather than attempting to create eerie and disturbing atmospheres. If they did that more often, I'd find them far more appealing.

You know what? I feel the same as you guys do. Ya I'll get a little jumpy from time to time but that rarely happens. To me it's a movie and that's it. Not to mention a lot of scary movies now a days rely on the gore and cheaps thrills factor way to much.

Well let me tell you, that changed yesterday. I went on a day trip with friends and while in Santa Cruz we decided to go watch Paranomal Activity. That movie is truly frightening. By far the most frightening movie I've ever seen or experienced in my life.

I'm 20 years old and I slept with my lamp and TV on last night.....yeah...

Movies that scare me are those that rely most on sound and fear of the unknown, hence why Signs and Paranormal Activity are the only two films to ever scare me in the sense that they gave me the chills and had my heart racing. Gore, blood, and jumpy cheap scares are boring and stupid.

I don't think I have ever been scared by a horror film, I usually rate them on different merits.

The only one that gave me a sense of fear (and the only one I have ever bought on DVD) was Carpenters The Thing.

I dunno. :| It was just, funny. And it was ten years ago.

It was actually at my aunt's house. She had guests over. Her house is like a mansion. And it has a theater in her basement. Like, impotant people guest.

I never liked her though. :x

Really? Because Anthony Hopkins performance is nothing to laugh at. But whatever I thought it was good.

Don't feel bad, you aren't the only one that laughed at that movie. ;) Just because I laughed during some parts of it doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the movie as well.

Yeah, most Scary Movies today just achieve on making you startled. When a scary movie achieves that eerie atmosphere feeling, it has won me over.

Not really. I might "jump" at something, but never really scared. Even the "jump" moments in most horror movies now a days are predictable (like every thing else).

(minor spoilers) I love scary movies. But the only one that really creeped me out was the original Blair Witch Project. Mainly because I lived in a house very similar to the one at the end of the movie and I watched it all alone in the dark in my attic.

No. I've never been scared of a movie. I still like some horror movies, though, they can have a really great atmosphere about them, I just never jump out of my seat or anything.

I'm a high-strung person, so I can't stand any movie that tries to shock me. I do like horror movies in general, but I can't watch any that use a lot of cheap scares. It's no big loss, since I don't respect that method anyway.

Occasionally. I'm a horror buff, and while most don't actually frighten me, there are some here and there that give me a fright while watching.

It's not the movie that scares me, it's my mind afterwards when I start thinking up scarier things that could've happened instead, so no, it's me that scares me.

Nope. But I have to admit, Paranormal Activity, was one of the best scary movies I've seen in a very long time. It didn't scare me, but it had what alot of scary movies lacked, and it lacked alot of what isn't needed but you always see it in scary movies. Like gore or violence, it didn't have any, which was perfect. But it did have the first person experience, and enough to make you feel like you are in the action...

I started watching horror films when i was 4-5 and have continued watching/playing and enjoying scary films/games.In all those years I have only been scared by very few of them,IT scaried me when i was about 6 and another horror film about a ghost machine scaried me but apart from that no horror film has ever scaried me.Funny thing is while all these horror films that i saw never bothered me 2 kids films terrified me so much that i couldnt sleep. The 2 films that scaried the crap out of my?Roger Rabbit at the part were the villain gets flattened and reinflates himself and superman 3 with the women turning into the evil thing, for some reason I used to call her the marmite demon :) . Oh and silent hill scaried me when i first played that when i was about 11-12
