I can't handle anything scary at all. Nothing. Nothing scary, gory, thriller, horror, whatever. Slightly creepy is as far as I go and even that isn't a good time. It's terrible and I wish I wasn't so sensitive to everything. There are several scary movies that sound really interesting and I want to know what they're all about but I can't watch them. :( I usually end up going to Wikipedia to find out about them. So lame.

Scary movies scare me, but not the ones that just go for the gore factor--i.e Saw, etc... I work late night shifts at times and when you're alone in the basement and sometimes your mind wanders off about the movie---well, let's just say your mind does tricks on you in the early AM. :)

Yes, I get scared easily. The ending scene from Drag Me to Hell is still playing in my head over and over again. I try to stay as far as them as possible though.

The only three films that ever truly put a lump in my throat was Silence of the Lambs, Emily rose, and last but not least The Shining... The Shining's atmosphere did it for me all by itself! It's a slow burn type of scare. No particular instance per- say, but about 2/3rds through the movie, I just had to turn the lights on for a minute... I was watching it for the first time, and by myself!!!

Only when I was young. Now and days, movies seem more gross than scary....

Actually, with surround sound, speakers turned up, and in the dark by myself while watching a scary movie can be a bit frightening.....

Talking about a genre

That was great in the 70's

Good in the 80's

Ok, in the 90's

Became a joke in the late 90's, no thanks to the Scary Movie Franchise(see 13 ghost, and house on haunted hill(the remake)

And is bad in the 2000's, good to a few teens

Only scary movie that has manage to be good were a few J-Horror films(the original versions), 28 Days Later, and a few Indie horror films this decade.

Saw has killed Horror for me, and the Americanization of some Jhorror films, I'm glad that trend is dead.

Even the scariest and best don't scare me. After the death of one of my best friends, scary movies haven't been scary.

Well I don't consider gory movies that TC has mentioned to be necessarily scary, to me they're just slasher films with over-the-top gore for the satisfaction of people who like that sort of thing. That's not uncommon or abnormal at all.

To me a scary movie is a lot more than that. A movie that's actually scary would be something like Paranormal Activity or Cloverfield, where not gore but realistic thrills take over the main theme.

I actually laughed when people got killed in Friday the 13th (2009). :D Nowadays the horror movies are too teen/romance orientated. What we need is the mind-twisting plot and dark scenes, not plain killing. :(

Movies that scare me are those that rely most on sound and fear of the unknown, hence why Signs and Paranormal Activity are the only two films to ever scare me in the sense that they gave me the chills and had my heart racing. Gore, blood, and jumpy cheap scares are boring and stupid.SaintLeonidas

True, Signs was a legitimately scary movie (haven't seen Paranormal Activity yet). It really creeped me out only getting to see the aliens in glimpses, which then led to the corresponding fear of the unknown that you were talking about. It's further proof that good horror movies can be made without the excessive amounts of blood and gore.

Signs is great. I remember watching it at the theater, my eyes got watery when I saw the birthday scene :P.

No, which is the main reason why I don't care for them. Some friends made the mistake of going with me to see Stepfather this weekend, I couldn't stop laughing.

Not anymore. When I was a child, Pet Cemetery and IT scared me. All of the newer horror movies seem really corny.
