i don't know. the coders/makers of it were good. they invented something that nobody else thought of. it can sometimes help people get things. i would think this would have been invented but xbox live pretty much uses a p2p server type of thing.

Economics

Here is a list of Nobel Laureates in the economics field and the reasopns why they won. Please explain to me why the coders of a P2P software the uses compression to send data should win the economics prize.

Hmm seems they hand them out for research involving economics rather than science now adays

and do you even know how p2p works?

I think everyone knows how P2P works. There is absolutely no field at all the coders of any of the software associated with P2P file sharing utilities would be elligible for a Nobel Prize specifically for their code.

Kinda harsh.

At least a keg'll do... :P

Seriously though, my opinion is that they deserve some sort of positive acknowledgement but maybe not the Nobel. It kind of makes me feel like it would lower the standards for the Nobel ( sorry to those that wholeheartedly believe the P2P/Torrents inventers deserve a Nobel ).

Torrents came after usenet, and are heavily inferior to usenet.

Usenet is full of information, torrents are all idiotic pirates stealing things.

NO. It was done for profit.

Until that technology actually stops some evil and destructive facet against all humanity, then a Nobel Prize isn't warranted.

Judging from some of the hateful communications we continuously suffer here, consider they might actually end up getting lynch-mobbed in hindsight.
