You're probably going to catch alot of flak for this. Some may ridicule you, and you are starting a debate which has already been repeated on this board many times.
As for my answer, man makes medicine which in turn heals or cures the sick. I don't know about all diseases seeing since new ones may develop in the future. As for weather, it's a matter of developing the technology.
No as for the argument of man vs God and vice versa, it is not my place to decide or say. I can't prove God's existence, nor can I disprove his/her existence. However, there is an existence in the thought of a higher power, and that gives people faith and reason to govern their lives.
well i'm not religous but i hope there is a heaven. But i've heard people like ono yoko that man will cure a disease for ageing.danpez8900
Sure, I've got a cure for that. It's called being young at heart.

Taking the following assumptions:
1. God exists
2. God is almighty
3. You don't believe in magic
Then you need to build such a device that can alter any aspect of the time-space phenomena, which the consequence of which will be probably the end all of matter and energy in the universe, because we are that stupid. All that leading to my theory that when man will become a god through technology, he will cease to exist, since technology gives you power without responsibility, such ultimate power will be too much for our weak minds to handle.
is yoda brainer than god?

I don't believe in Yoda, but I can prove he doesn't exist in real life. I don't exactly believe in God, however I can't disprove his existence.Only as a fictitious character does Yoda exist. As for God, as I said before, it seems his/her existence can't be proven or disproven. So I have no real answer for your question.
[QUOTE="danpez8900"]humans are getting intelligant all the time tho.

Granted...that just made me laugh.
Back on topic though...yes, because of advances in medical and life assisting technology, we are prolonging life and improving the quality of said life.
Well because I like to argue I will strongly disagree with you (in the end everything is an opinion), i think that while science does prolong life, one look at the elderly makes me want to die young, after hearing them complain about every single body illness to ever struck mankind, I understood that drug companies just prolong your life so you can buy more of their product, drugs (the legal ones...). Living till 85, but in the process become half-machine (or cyborg if you prefer) dependant on chemicals to sustain your so called life, well, makes me want to fling myself off a cliff.
Diseases mutate, which is why you can catch the flu again and again. So no.purplemonkey87Yeah, prokaryotes>Eukaryotes. Also, viruses are awesome.

I could agree with all of that.
Man is already more powerful than "God" because man created "God". I would like to imagine that someday humanity would be able to cure all illnesses but I don't see it happening any time soon. As for controlling the weather, Man should NEVER be given the right nor the means to control nature like that. Ever. EwanMac
Possible, but I'd like to see the evidence. The last time I checked, the verdict on that wasn't out yet. And since you have made such a bold statement, the burden of proof would seem to fall upon your shoulders.

It is a burden I am glad to bear. Even if God does exist, what is God without man?

True. And what is man without God? Or atleast the concept of a higher power? I also carry a similar burden, I can't prove or disprove God's existence, and I don't exactly believe in him, mostly due to this fact, as well as other reasons.
To the atheists, he probably said god to avoid a whole paragraph about what exactly man should be more powerful than. Just assume god is everything that humans can't control right now.
IMO no. If we cure all disease, we'll overpopulate and die. If we find a way to live in the moon or Venus, eventually the Sun will blow up and we'll die. Maybe we'll find a way to get out of the solar system by then, but I don't think humanity is smart enough to survive more than about 200 more years.

But that's the problem with it though. I can say that an invisible elephant with wings walk around all of us. Can you prove or disprove it? No. That doesn't mean it exists. I know some people believe God exists. But that's faith. Faith should never be mixed with facts. If you can't prove God exists, you can't say that as a fact. Believe it, have faith in it. But faith = fact.

Well if it's invisible then no, not really.
As for faith and fact, I never said that because I can't prove that God exists or does not exist actually means whether or not he/she does or does not exist. I did not state my own personal beliefs as a fact, because the only fact about personal beliefs are that they are opinions. God may exist, but I don't believe in him, not solely for the argument over God's existence, but for other reasons which would spark a debate, completely off topic from the OP's intentions. And those very reasons could be found stated by others in the countless topics debating religion on this board.
I have faith, but in myself. I believe in karma and the philosophies of Buddhism. I don't knock others for their personal beliefs. Because when it all comes down to it, faith in whatever religion or diety gives a person purpose. It defines a character for them, and gives them convictions.
Well I suppose whether you believe in the existence of God comes down to this:
i. You believe that something infinite came out of nothing
ii. You believe that something infinite with infinite power and knowledge came out of nothing and created something infinite
Well the Beatles were more populer than jesus .
lol
But if god is so powerful why did he invent cancer or even man , which he should ave known is too smart for itself?
a doctor has done more for u than god has!
imposible that man is more powerfull than god. why? simple because humas cant be more powerfull than a being that dont existfirulai
Santa doesn't exist, therefore i am more powerful than him.
