...from eating it? Sadly, it it doesn't have the effect on me like it should. Of course, I'm not overweight, but I know my cholesterol is higher than it should be and I'm not getting the nutrients that I should. Right now, I'm watching a documentary called Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, and it almost makes me want to try the juice fast...

No. I've always known it wasn't healthy for me and I didn't need a documentary to tell me that. I still eat it once in a while because sometimes I just want something quick that tastes good.

No, most of them are made by hippies and enviormentalist fools to scare you.

Truth is, if you use more calories than you digest, youll be fine.

No they don't. We had to watch Super Size me in a class in college. As soon as class was over I went straight to McD's. Honestly, the movie made me even MORE comfortable with fast food. He had everything supersized for every meal a day and only gained 10lbs with no real health change. Even when I eat fast food, I typically just get a little double cheeseburger, a small frie and a small soda (if not a water). I'm not porking out there.

Not necessarily. Super Size Me, and the one I'm just watching Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead show actual proof of what can happen to the body if you replace junk food with healthy food.

You do realize that thats a double standard right? Replacing a regular diet with anything can cause severe problems, fat ass being one of many. Not only that buy eating nothing but junk food in the correct amounts is the equivalent of eating healthy food in the same way.

What does documentaries never tell you is that Mc' Donalds doesnt make you fat, eating like pig does.

Well, I don't eat fast-food since it's, like, not food. (empty calories SUCK. I need energy to function) So I doubt that documentaries would change anything. It's also a waste of my hard earned money.

Yeah, I understand that. I eat a TON of junk food and I've been 165 for about three years now since I have an active job. I used to be around 235 when I just worked in a call center and never did anything to exercise. And the point of documentaries are to expose the conditions of what will happen when someone is eating too much junk food. They're targeted for "fat asses" and the people who eat like pigs. I'm sure people have taken something positive from these films and adjusted their lifestyles as a result. Even if it's only 1 percent of the audience who watched them, those films have done their jobs.

I treat overweight people like crap tbh.

CaveJohnson1
And I'm sure they appreciate you doing it. Who knows, you may be that "That's the last time some guy calls me fat!" person to get them on a treadmill.

Acutally their jobs are to stop the harvesting of animals for food. Or simply make money like super size me. Just look at Micheal Phelps, he out eats the fattest redneck in america every day, because he uses all that energy.

I was referring to fast-food itself -- not the documentaries. Those may impart important information regarding what people do to themselves. Health aside, in my opinion, dropping six bucks on a s***ty-tasting meal just to leave me feeling hungry immediately afterwards kinda kinda pisses me off. That's the actual reason I don't eat fast-food, and I simply don't see the appeal. (although, to be fair, I will occasionally purchase a Chipotle Burrito)

Not at all... in fact, within minutes of watching Super Size Me I turned to my son who was watching with me and said "so, how does watching that show make you feel about fast food?"... "Hungry!" he replied... so we went to McDonald's

No. Though lately I seem to be losing my taste for fast food anyway, I can seldom finish the meals... But no, I figure as long as I get enough exercise, I'll be fine.

Supersize me made me want Mcdonalds. I'm not going to eat like a big nasty beast, but ONE burger or ONE 6 pack of nuggets now and again will not kill me, so I don't feel gross about eating it at all.

One would be tempted to think that, but for some reason fast-food is disproportionately purchased by those of lower income. I just don't get it.

No. The taste of the crappy food is enough to deter me. In fact, the only fast food I eat are:

American: The Habit, In N Out, Five Guys
Mexican: Baja Fresh, Chipotle, La Salsa
Asian/Chinese: Pei Wei, Pick Up Sticks

Not ALL documentaries are like that. Again, I bring your attention to Fat, Sick and Unhealthy. Allow me to tell you the synopsis. It's about a wealthy Australian man who developed a medical condition called chronic urticaria as a result of eating large quantities of unhealthy foods for years. He realized that if he didn't turn his life around, he was going to die at an early age. So, he began a juice fast and headed to America to talk about what he was doing and to try to influence a few people to try juicing for themselves. He met a trucker along the way who was upwards of 450 pounds, and he helped him down below 300 by the time the film was over. The filmmaker's already rich, so he didn't need the money. He made the film to spread a positive word.

Compared to stuff one can purchase at a grocery, not at all. Having grown up on a shoestring budget, my parents considered it "too expensive" whenever I asked for it as a kid.

This. If you're single living by yourself, it's actually cheaper to cook a pot of something and eat it for a week. Healthier, too. That's what I do.

Yeah, and it's thanks to a number of contributing factors. Price of corn and other products, increase in minimum wages, etc. Hell, you could probably get twice as much food on the dollar menu in a 9 dollar order than you would from a combo.[QUOTE="BranKetra"] Dang. Did it come out in theaters?

I never heard of it until tonight when I just stumbled across it in Netflix.

I watched a documentary on factory farming and now I don't eat meat but I still consume dairy. I'll give up on dairy when I learn more about veganism. To be honest, I really don't want to eat fast food because it's very unhealthy. I honestly think that if people are going to eat plenty of fast food then they are just begging to die.

veganism isn't all it's cut out ot be either... if the produce that your local market carries isn't domestically grown, there's a good possibility that it will have been fertilized with human feces...

I don't eat fast food a lot, but for a quick meal when you're on the road or if you get in late I think it's fine. In high school I would go to McDonalds during my free periods- it grossed me out a lot less than cafeteria food...

Overall, I eat very healthily and I exercise. The occasional French fry won't kill me. It's just when you get excessive that it becomes an issue.

That's my opinion. It's not so much that it deters me, but my personal taste in food. In all honesty, I actually have a taste for fruit and vegetables over candy and fried food. Seriously. It's not just because of health benefits. I prefer the taste. Yes, I like some "unhealthy" food, but only in moderation.

I don't eat fast food because it doesn't taste that good.

I can cook pretty well and know tons of recipes that taste better than fast food. More importantly (because I'm very lazy), I know tons of recipes that require almost no effort or time and still taste better than just about any fast food.

Pirate700

Super Size Me was so horribly biased and ill thought out. You aren't meant to eat at McDonalds three times a day and you certianly aren't meant to consume 4000 to 5000 calories of McDonalds (which is a LOT of food, more than any rational person would order) or any food in general. I think fast food is disgusting and gross but Super Size Me just bothers me because of how deceitful it is.

Supersize me made me want Mcdonalds. I'm not going to eat like a big nasty beast, but ONE burger or ONE 6 pack of nuggets now and again will not kill me, so I don't feel gross about eating it at all. XilePrincess
Same here. The more I watched that movie. The more I want to go out of my way and actually give McDonalds my money.
