It needs more positive balance.sometimes in life, we just need to take advantage of people to get what we want.

Nope. If you try to take advantage of me, I won't give you what you want. harashawn
But how would you know what we want?

I can usually tell what people are trying to get from me. If someone just wants to be my friend, that's fine. But I often know when someone has an ulterior motive.Life is give and take. While the term "give and take" has a rather conciliatory connotation, it doesn't just mean "give." I absolutely agree with you.

This is what it takes to get to the top. Winners seize opportunities, sometimes through inappropriate means; losers are too busy being caught up with ethics.

Not really. If you step on people on the way up, nobody's going to catch you when you inevitably fall. There's a difference between strategy to get what you want and just using people.XilePrincess

As quickly as you say that youll be in a position where you have to. Do and live your life they way you like.

....are you serious? so if they're not your family or friends, they mean nothing to you, so you think that justifies using them?
Disagree, although it may get you a position of CEO, I'd rather have a modest paying job and know that I can sleep well in bed than worry that someone might have a grudge. I do believe in forming connections, but not in the way of stepping over people to get to the end. You never know when you might need that connection that you have burnt off getting to that promotion.sometimes in life, we just need to take advantage of people to get what we want.

Notice he qualified his original post with the word "sometimes." He's not talking about being a complete douchebag and taking outright advantage of anybody and everybody you come into contact with. He's saying that there are instances in life where you have to be the aggressor and do what's in your best interest, even if it's at the expense of somebody else. That's absolutely true.
doesnt make sense considering the likely external result. if you keep taking advantage of people, eventually youll have nobody to take advantage of.sometimes in life, we just need to take advantage of people to get what we want.

Sometimes it is necessary. But I don't agree in doing it. This is the kind of attitude that leads to murder, war, and suffering. If it weren't for people like this, we wouldn't have a top and a bottom. We'd eventually find a way to grow past that. People could see each other on an equal level. Harming someone else just to satisfy a mere want isn't justified. A want isn't important. If you can't achieve it without harming someone else, don't bother.

No, I don't agree at all with your philosophy. If you are a person like that, you deserve to die. Taking advantage of another is the weakest and most cowardly thing to do. The world will be better to live in if such people were eradicated...
[QUOTE="positivebalance"]Horrible philosophy. Extremely evil but its the truest philosophy I've ever heard. 95% of the people i've met act this way.sometimes in life, we just need to take advantage of people to get what we want.

Gotta agree with this. My own life was nearly ruined because of the way in which people used to take advantage of my father... I tell you, those people who exploit others are never gonna have a moment of peace. They'll never be satisfied with what they have. And when they die, they'll have nothing left except what Trent Reznor said in his song "Hurt" : "My empire of dirt."
I've yet to see a selfish man live with utmost satisfaction.

It's usually a lioness who hunts. The lion does the taking away...

That's the thing, everybody is saying that this is inappropriate, but most of us are still promoting a society that encourages such behaviour.

I think the people who have posted in this thread against this philosophy has had experience of being taken advantage of. Hence, why we all disagree with OP's statements.

Don't get me wrong, I too am opposed at such behaviour because I know very well how it's like to be on the receiving end, but I'm just cyncially pointing out that this is how society functions.

You are correct. Everything from getting a job to being accepted by society is usually done like this. The world's laws...one's we can't change.
I believe everything needed/wanted should be gained through some sort of mutually beneficial exchange.
I definately do not believe in taking advantage of people.
It doesnt have to be equal value, either. For example, you get a gift, you send a thank you card. Your parents give you money for college, you pay them back by getting good grades and, with a good job, pay them back monetarily
"Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of any other, always at the same time as an end and never merely as a means to an end."
Anyway, it doesn't matter what any of you say, because I would bet a million buck that none of you ever becomes a CEO of a major corporation or ever gets that far "ahead" in life.
