Can a Boy and a Girl from different corners of the world fall in love with each other over Internet ?

Would you fall in love with a girl / guy from Internet ? Would you trust your partner completely under such circumstances ?

I personally know of a couple who met on Gamespot , found True love in each other and living together very happily now .

Whats your opinion on this matter ? :)

Of course they CAN fall in love. It's pretty sad though to have a relationship that's purely digital.

My sister met and fell in love with her husband over the internet; and this was back in 2000 without facebook, webcams, and all that higgamajig. So I would say yes, but in extremely rare circumstances.

There are a few girls on GS that I wouldn't mind PMing some naked photos of myself (no face shots though); so yes, it is very possible.

No. Relationships are emotional AND physical. Without the latter, it will just fall apart.

I'd say it's fine as a way for people to meet. But to have any kind of substantial relationship via computer is kinda sad/lame/pathetic.

It is VERY possible to fall for someone over the internet.

As a matter of fact I am very much falling for this girl I met online. She just gave me her number yesterday and we spent ALL DAY (from like 6PM after she gave me her number after we had been chatting on AIM for an hour till almost 5AM) texting eachother.

I wouldn't keep a relationship to just a pure online thing. I have every intention of working my way to setting up a date with this girl.

If they meet up and have something physical, yes. It gets really hard to maintain a long distance relationship alone WITH a physical side, never mind nothing.

Yes its possible, the main alternative is to meet someone in a pub/nightclub when drunk and waking up not even knowing who your next to.

I absolutely believe that it's possible to fall for someone online, and even to love someone online. However, it's not going to become true love/romance/a "real" relationship until it moves past something exclusively online or over the phone.

Yea, you can't replace physical time together. And eventually wouldn't you want the relationship to go somewhere, so you'd have to live near or with each other?
I'd probably have some trust issues at some point too. Because you could be misled about their entire life.
You put a lot of trust in someone when you're constantly 'taking their word for it'.

All very true.

I cannot understand how someone would meet someone online from another country and start a relationship with said person without any way to go see the person. There has to be that potential to see eachother and take things further. Sure I guess if you KNEW you would be able to move to them at some point it is possible. They are developing things too at this point so people can pleasure eachother over the internet as well so I am guessing such relationships will increase and be more sucessful as well.

And yes, trust is a big issue. It is the major thing I struggle with having not met the girl yet. Alot of the trust issues go away once you meet them in person, however. At that point, once you know they are in fact the person in their picture, there really isn't anymore trust required beyond what goes into ANY regular relationship.

It's possible to fall in love through the internet, sure, I think the couple would have to meet each in real life in order to truly fall in love with each other though. I would find it slightly odd if a couple claimed they were in love but had only known each other through digital means. It's possible though.

Ha. There has to be some positives for some people. Maybe you're really insecure about how you look or your life so not having to let someone see all of that is comforting. Maybe you don't want to put all that much time or work into a relationship so online stuff is just enough. Or maybe you just like messing with people's heads.

Sure, there are quite a few stories of people who met in MMOs and ended up getting married. I've heard of a couple of couples here who met on GS. Personally i think it's perfectly plausible for me to develop feelings for someone online, however i wouldn't call it a real relationship until we met in person.

I will go with your last statement.

What reason would there ever be to be anything more than friends online?
...like talking...be friends
...want to hear what they have to say...be friends

They (online only relationships) lack all components that differentiate a friendship from a romantic relationship IMO

Sure it can certainly work for some people...but not for everyone. Honestly, when we pick our mates, we tend to pick the 'best' we can find in the area. If you choose to use the internet as a tool to find a mate, you're picking from a much larger pool and therefore the potential to find a better mate is there. I mean, really, what are the chances that the absolute 'best' person for you happens to live in your town or in a nearby town? Using the internet opens up a lot more doors if you can make it work to your advantage. If it is just purely on the internet and purely digital, I don't know how I'd consider it a full relationship, but if there is a plan for the individuals to meet/move in together, I don't see how that's much different from using a local dating site or from seeking out someone through work, school, etc. It's just another way of finding someone.

I think it is impossible to have any sort of real relationship or romance without being able to touch someone, so if it's just an e-thing and nothing else, then I think calling it a relationship is laughable.

However I don't think it's entirely impossible or even unlikely that people meet people online and are subsequently happy, so long as they live fairly close, or make an active effort to see each other regularly or whatever. If you meet somewhere like an MMO then chances are you'll have something or even many things in common. Probably more so than some randomer you might pick up in a club as someone said.

After talking to a guy online for some time, and then the phone, he turned out to be a douchebag. I've decided to stay away from online dating since.

Yes, they can. Yes, and I have fallen in love with someone over the internet. Do I know what he looks like? No picture. And I know the guy well enough to trust him. My opinion (laced with fact): 1 in 5 couples meet on the internet anyways. E-romance is normal now.

Thats hard to say, i wouldnt go as far as to saying i condemn something like that, but i sorta think it gives too many people false hope  in some ways unless theyre really serious about it, I suppose there are ways such things can work out wonderfully, but to know someone you'd really have to see them for their true selves eventually too...either way as long as trust exists yea...dont see any problem with it :P

It's not something I'd be into, but it can exist up to a certain point. At some point you want to meet each other. Only when you met them in person do you get that special feeling, "the know". Of course I'm talking about true love, like I want to marry you love. You could just have someone you cybersex with or something.

I know people who have had a crush on a girl here.

E love is riscky since you basiclly have to drill them for info and make them prove they are nt under 18.

Sure, as long as neither of the people talking are complete tools, fools, or lack general compatibility. (Yeah, I just inferred that if you find it completely impossible to do so, the fault lies in your own personality. ;D)
