I never did, until I thought about it like this.

It seems like its undeniable.

Either there was a single first event (creation) or its all been going for eternity. Although the part about the Big Bang being the first event isn't exactly accurate. The energy in those two tablespoons (or whatever) of matter somehow caused the Big Bang.

But no, I dont believe in destiny.

I do in the sense that everything has a cause and an effect, as there is literally no way that anything happens for no reason at all, there is an effect to it whether you can see it or not. So by technicality, this means that free will is essentially an illusion fabricated by the burden of consciousness, but in reality, we may as well be mindless drones doing exactly what our impulsive minds are telling us to do. So in a sense, I guess there is a destiny to it, but I don't really consider it destiny, I just consider it the most probable and realistic outcome.

Kind of. When presented with choices, we can only pick one of them. The other choices never happen and so they don't really exist.

It comes down to how you frame the question and how you define destiny.

If you were to ask me if I think all my actions have been preordained by a super being, or if the chance meeting between myself and an old friend in a remote French cafe was really a supernaturally guided event then I would tell you, "No." I do not believe in destiny.

On the other hand, if you're asking whether or not I believe that each of my thoughts and actions are related to some causal event, which is in turn related to some other causal event, which is in turn related to some ultimate causal event, then sure, I believe in that kind of destiny.

The only fate is what we make for ourselves, though this fate is inevitable.

determinism is the thesis that future events are necessitated by past and present events combined with the laws of natureWikipedia
So basicially it's saying your choices for the future are affected in some way by choices you have made in the past, and a direct result of choices you make in the present. But of course, you can't defy nature by randomly flying off a building. Are you sure Captain Obvious didn't start this?

No think about it, everything you do is just a reaction to some past event.

I'm a soft determinist. You're fate isn't written in stone, more like penciled in.
